Anyone have a good way to convert .MTS (HD Camcorder) files?

I'm trying to get an edit together, I have a bunch of sick shots my friend got but their all in .MTS format. The only converter I've been able to find messes with the frame rate and adds a watermark, which sucks. Suggestions?

one at a time with 5DtoRGB, or you can buy the full version. that's what I use.

people will prbly give me shit for this, but I edit natively in premiere haha. Now that I have some free time, I am going to look into alternatives tho

Clipwrap is your best option. As long as you don't have any videos above one minute, you can just use the free trial.

Are you using fcp or premier?

if youre using premier, just edit the mts. but if you need to convert, clipwrap works very well.

I literally had the same problem today for a school project. I just tossed them into handbrake and made them into mp4 files, it worked well I suppose.

Thanks for all the responses.

I did some more research after I made this thread and found out that for most camcorders that use .mts, the series of folders that the video files are in are actually code or something that the program that comes with the camera uses to play them. Where I went wrong was taking them out of the folders and just moving them to my desktop. I tried a few different converters, but I didn't like the result from any of them (the free trial versions at least.) What I ended up doing was having my friend come over with his PC and he used some Windows program to open them and save them as .wmv's, then I used mpeg streamclip to convert those into apple prores for final cut.

Basically .mts is a pain in the ass.

As long as you take the raw .mts files out of your memory card, you shouldn't have any issues. Clipwrap is very simple and works very well. mts is a pain untill you figure out how to use it, then its just as easy as any other codec.
