Anyone going to get a chromebook?

After watching that video i have come to a conclusion. It looks like a really good product for people who dont use like microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, ect. (at least from what i can tell you cant use them). For me it looks impractical but hey if you wanna try it out go for it. any idea how much it will cost?

Not sure if i like the browser style user-interface in that chrome os preview. Probably because i'm so used to mac and windblows. I'm almost always for function over design, but that just bothers me in somehow. like it looks "cheap" or something. I'm thinking that it might take away some of the feeling that it is your own private system you interact with and leave you more with something like you would experience on a smartphone.

But hey, If it turns out legit and to a fair price, who knows. New technology almost always seems a bit awkward at first in my eyes.

my brother got a cr48 ... he has since hacked umbuntu onto it. let that guve you an idea of the functionality of them.

am i wrong in thinking that the internet isn't developed enough to jump completely to cloud computing yet? it's a great idea and most probably the future, but i feel like the internet should be faster and more widespread before this stuff is the norm. when you have wireless/4g/whatever literally ANYWHERE, then yeah great it sounds perfect. until then..

this. maybe if they put out a product like this, people will see the need for internet everywhere. then the internet would become free also, well it should. they'll probably charge you based on usage or bandwidth or something.

My work had 3 of these shipped to them. But they were for a different team of engineers so I didn't get to take one home or anything.

That was me.

But yeah, its called the CR-48, the beta release of the chromebook. Its was super glitchy. sometimes pages didnt even load, a lot of times, when they do load, the format is all fucked up.

I hadnt touched it in awhile, but i got it out today, and it seems like a lot of those glitches were gone. Its still slow as shit. But that could be because im runnin 4 computers on the network at once. Im be It also does not have a caps lock, sorry t-hall.

It also came with 2 years of verizon 3g access for free, so i really can go anywhere with this thing. I like the idea behind the cloud and think i could be pretty sucessful. deff not a replacement for a laptop or desktop, but it definitely makes for a good netbook! I really like the Cr-48 and i might even consider purchasing an actual chromebook!
