I get it all the time. My name is Martin and often people mishear it as Mark. I think even a few times people thought my name was Markin.

So NS, tell me what do people often mishear your name as?

(not sure if a thread like this has been done before, Tried searching for something like it, but I couldn't find anything though.)

I hear Adam a lot

also my friend's name is Hayden so we often don't know which one of us people are talking to

One of the permanent subs in my high school used to call me Mckinley (Mackenzie).

I've also been called Kinsley a lot. Especially across the pond.

I don't really get it though. Mackenzie is a pretty popular name.

People have managed to get Tom from Ed, like wtf how does Ed sound anything like Tom

Today someone called me tom for the first time. hahaha It was funny cause the conversation went kind of like this(keep in mind now a days if someone gets my name wrong I don't even care anymore, and I just go with it now rather then keep correcting people):

Other person:"Tom, was it?"

Me"Martin"

Other person:"Alright, see you later mark"

Me:(thinks to himself for a quick second"close enough") "Have a good day"

hahaha

You should go by Marty

My name is Connor. I get Collin, Chris, Corbin....

The thing that really amazes me is how people spell my name in an email.

They always spell it Conner. Or think my last name is my first name. (Ronan) my work email is my first name and then the company...

Now I go by CR at work.

taco bell always messes up my name, they mistake boon for bill

i just say my name is charlie now whenever i go, i just got sick of being called bill

people call me sabrina and sierra and siana (serena), or just by my last name with "little" in front of it.

in grade 8, someone couldn't pronounce my name, so they called me senerma. and then it evolved from there and the same person will call me epidermis, which is the outer layer of cells covering an organism.

i have a coworker named Serandon (pronounced like brandon), and people just butcher her name so much, it's come to the point where it's a competition within my coworkers to see the weirdest version of her name we can come up with. we're at serenadon now.

My name is Gregory, but I go by Greg and I get Craig, and when they think it's Craig they do that "HEYYYY CRAIIGGGG" thing from the movie "Friday". I die a little bit on the inside every time.

My name is Mitch

I cant tell you how many times people have thought i called them a bitch when they ask me what my name is. really unbelievable. one time in gym class back in middle school, my friend got sent to the principals office because we were playing soccer and he screamed my name. The sub thought he yelled "bitch" at a girl haha

my name's chelsea but i've get Kelsey all the time, as well as casey, i've also ben called chloe. Some other good ones but i can't remember them now

My name is Davin. Same way as saying Gavin but with a D. So naturally I get Gavin alllll the time. I correct people and they are like yah, Gavin... Also people say David or Dave-in.

My name is Kyle. The only name people mistake mine for is Todd. I must look like a fucking Todd or something because they sound nothing alike but I've never been mistaken for something else.

Last week I was helping a family move furniture from their dead mothers house and I introduced myself and one of the guys who was clearly baked and in his mid 30s asked if my name was Pollen....my name is Collin

my name is peter, but i go by pete. trying to tell someone that your name is pete in a loud bar or loud area is tough since it's only one syllable. i just get a lot of "what?"

I go by whatever people decide to call me now. hahaha

I remember one night I met up with an entire group of random people I didn't know and the whole night everyone was calling me mark. I thought it would be rude to correct them after a certain point and just rolled with it. hahaha

Almost everyone calls me Daph instead of Daphne and when little kids yell dad I always think they're talking to me

haha, when people say "in case he" like if someone was talking and said, "just in case he changes his mind." it always catches my attention

my name is Ryan....and about 50% of the time people say Brian. If they don't really matter I don't correct them lol.

My English teacher called me Riley for almost the entire semester before somebpdy told her. I really don't understand how because she had to look at my name and face every day to take attendance and put my grades in. Also, even weirder, she called me Ryan for the first 2 weeks before she switched to Riley.

My name is boyd but a lot of people here floyd. One of my friends heard floyd when I just met him and I didn't realize he was calling me floyd for at least a month and buy that time I thought it was too ackward to correct him. He still thinks I am floyd to this day.
