Anyone else surprised about these invite lists to XGames?

Maybe I don't know exactly how it works this year, or how qualifications will go down...but it just seems like there are some omissions from the lists. Andri Ragettli, hate him or love him, through his instagram is doing not only doing triples in all directions with no shirt on even less, and is also doing all kinds of innovative dubs as well. Fabian Boesch, while invited to do big air, is not on the slopestyle list and he just put down a silver at Dew Tour...

Russ Henshaw was able to hang in SLVSH with Evan MC for the longest game ever recorded and he's not on the invite list either. Also, from the pipe, I find it strange that Byron Wells is invited and not Beau James Wells. No disrespect to Byron, but Beau James, like Fabian, just got a silver at Dew Tour and it doesn't make sense to me that he wouldn't be able to be in the X Games half pipe when he's clearly able to compete at the highest levels.

Anyway, that's just my long assrant, but is there any actual input from us that goes into this invitation process. I mean if I could have my say I would definitely have Dean Berco doing eddie flips or whatever all over the place.

Not just that but he also landed the first double cork onto a rail

I'm sure i'm way behind and have missed something, but is Wally not competing any more?

I have been wondering the same thing. I feel like he blew his knee, missed the Olympics and hasn't competed in a single event since.

I am 100% ok with him dipping out of the comp scene and focusing on the film game. He is still so damn gnarly

No JPV for pipe? Is there like qualifiers or something? I just wanna see him get like 40ft of air again so I can yell at my tv in excitement.

it seems that way. especially since his new pro model ski has almost zero camber and crazy rocker tip and tail. its definitely not a comp orientated ski, its like a skinny pow ski

Tom was one of the athletes in X-Games Real Ski this year with Ahmet, Clayton, Seany J, and other street skiers that I'm forgetting about.

Back in the days Xgames was about fun, it's now more getting about winning and points, prizes and all this shit. For the kids, it's hard AF to get to the xgames now, you need to win a bunch of other big events, get AFP points and points and points again.... Why not just choose the athletes by who they are and what they do?

I usually liked to watch the xgames..... but this year I just laugh at this competition.

No more qualification? Finals only? wtf??

No Jesper Tjader or am I just blind? Dude was CONSISTENTLY throwing underflip 4s onto rails last year if I recall correctly. For comp tricks flipping onto a rail each run and landing it is savage AF if you ask me.

they don't invite people if they're doing cool tricks on their instas......? im pretty sure they go by afp ranking and people who draw in the crowds but maybe they just throw darts at a board idk fam

This

xgames is regarded as the "top event" for afp, only the top points get invited, if someone misses a contest or gets hurt, they can easily get bumped out. Also, they only invited 12 this year for each event, vs the normal 16.

No Schlopy? No ABM? No Russ? No Simon Dartois!!??! He won last year, that means an automatic invite.

Interesting point, but what about for Big Air? Since the thinning out of scaffolding competitions and the lack of a Dew Tour Big Air this year, how would a competitor who would no doubt be competitive in that event, like Andri Ragettli or Dean Berco, be considered for this? I mean I know they still do Nine Knights and One Hit Wonder Down Under but that seems like hardly enough for their to be a real cohesive point system for big air consideration.

Unfortunately, Schlopy is currently living in the year 2160 and will not be back in time for Xgames.
