Anyone else feeling that skiing depression

Not here to start a pity party, just wanted to know if there was anyone in a similar situation..

I haven't got to ski since last December (5 day season for me). And I usually make up for it by getting to timberline but I decided to stay home and work this summer. It's been nagging at me that I feel distant from the sport and I feel like I've lost all chances of progression from where I left off. I'm a junior in HS so hopefully this will change if I can make it out of state next year.

So, for those of you who don't necessarily live in the mountains, or even anywhere with reliable snowfall, feel free to drop some wisdom below.

Make some goals for this season, and accomplish them. That will make you feel better.

I had a bad season last year too (under 20 days), and feel shitty. In the back of my mind however, I know after 2-3 days on snow I’ll be back to my old self.

Im getting 120 days in this year.

You win some you lose some. I had a 1 week season 2011-12. I think I had 5 days, then got broke and had to be a liftie and get surgeries. Ended up sneaking 1 run on a pow day mid season, and rode closing weekend at mount snow.

Tore my knee the summer after and didn't ride till mid feb. Mostly groomers. Got a few days on the slopes at least.

Then I've also had years where I probably rode upper 100's maybe 200 days.

Get out as much as you can. If you're not near the mountains, maybe make a backyard setup to hold you over. When you graduate HS look at moving to the mountains. If you're going to college look at some schools close to good skiing. If you're not going to school or taking a gap year, look into getting a job at a ski resort for a winter in CO/UT/CA and do the ski bum thing.

You've got plenty of time

You should just quit. it's not worth the suffering.

Lol

get on the bike man cruising arounds super therapeutic, even if you don't have a nice bike or any trails its still a lot of fun.

At first I mis-read and thought you said you are a Janitor at a HS and I was thinking heck yeah you are probably getting lots of hours and you have holidays coming up so just stack some cash and come out here to Hood.

Unfortunately as a Junior in HS things might not be so simple. High school is rough but just know that it doesn't last too long and then things will get better for sure. My family doesn't ski so I rarely got to ski in HS but looking back on it HS didn't last too long. You can ski your whole life so just try to get as much out of your high school experiences as you can and don't be hard on yourself.
