Anyone else ever snapped a ski before?

When I was younger I used to love to ski mogul runs. I also used to hit every mound, bank or bump of snow that could be used as a jump, no matter how bad the landing was. Anyway, I was on a steep run and I dropped off a small cliff into some moguls. I ended up with waaay too much speed and so I tried to hockey stop on a run of icy deep moguls. Next thing I know, my top ski gets wedged between to moguls and just snaps. I was on pretty bad skis back then so not out of the question for that to happen, but still a suprise.

Anyone else have a snapped ski story? Or does it happen all the time. Interested to hear your thoughts.

it happens, but not super often. i'd guess usually it happens after other damage compromises the ski, especially if water gets into your core

you can snap em just hitting stuff or eating shit really badly too though. i've snapped a brand new pair hitting a surprise cat track going vay too fast

Pair of surfaces and a pair of moments.

Just goes to show it can happen to any ski- water damage in your cores is the worst.

Yeah I snapped 2 pairs of Salomon pocket rockets back in the day. First one was landing switch on a backcountry booter and my tails just dove and it snapped right at the binding heel piece. Got a warrantee pair on those, then forget how I snapped the second pair

Saw a dude at Wolf Creek once with a powder snowboard that had the tail nearly broken in half. Curious how he did it with 12" of fresh snow on the ground also.

Yeah last year i broke a pair of TW shortys (2017). I'm not surprised because I was way too big for them and Line isn't known for durability. I snapped the tail on the last day of the season.

My friend also snapped a ski last week right under his heel piece.

Spring 2019... The second time I snapped a pair of ON3P Presters - Favorite ski ever though.

Also snapped a pair of Atomic Punx 7 a few years ago.

define snapped. i had apair of benchetlers and right underfoot i snapped the core and topsheet but the base was still holding the ski together

I think once it’s gone through the core it’s definitely snapped, not much else to go through at that point

thinking about it now it would be pretty impressive to literally snap a ski in two
