Anyone else almost killed someone?

Alright, I know you're all thinking like shanking or shooting someone, but im talking about those close ass collisions that are barely avoided by like inches that you go HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
my example : last weekend, was skiing down some random easy hill just to get to the chalet, was shity conditions, corduroy at the beginning of the day, packed to shit now...so im just going down the side in almost a straight line, and theres like ALOT of gapers like kids and a few adults...so im going down casually and then i see like a flash of yellow out of the corner of my eye on my right...which was a kid on the other side of the trees. this is where it gets interesting. so i turn my head back downhill. and i see a kid, and he is no more than 10 feet from me and im probably going like 10 ft / sec or faster. so then im like fuck, but it gets worse. this kid is like cutting horizontally across the hill slow as fuck, and then appears a woman into view who is like now in between me and the kid doing the same horizontal speed thing, and so here it is. this is how i know that if i am ever in a life threatening situation i will survive. somehow. my brain communicated to my legs to go on edge and stop, but then like come out of it quickly without coming to a stop...at like full speed mind you. and this all occured within like 0.7-1 second maybe? as i was stopping, i looked at our skis for some reason...the space in between my edges and hers were this......[ACTUAL SIZE].....so basically...im pretty sure i would have killed her and then the kid behind her as neither of them were wearing helmets and i would have fallen on top of both of them...crushing the child underneath her...shit changed my life. and when i got to the bottom of the hill my friends were like HOLY WTF OMG DUDE. and to add to almost giving this woman a heart attack, i sprayed the SHIT out of her with wet snow.
so now i ask...anyone else have a story such as this...and did it like...make you look differently about how you should ski safer / more focused

You have to ski carefully around beginner skiers, they arent aware of their surroundings and dont know if you are there. I almost died this weekend though. Bombing down to the park and some kid is doing HUGE turns down the hill and i go super far rightside down. Then he stops turning and just cuts me off and i had to hop into the bumpiest, shittiest snow ever going crazy fast and almost got my ass kicked popping out of it. I was pretty unhappy but i knew that he didnt try to and that everyone has to learn somewhere.

So i was skiing down some shitty ass groomer at my home mountain on the far left side, along the trees, because there was better snow there. Mind you that i am fucking flying. So out of the corner of my left eye i see like a dark shadow, but it was night skiing, so i immediately dismissed it as my shadow. All of the sudden the shadow launches of a kicker on the side of the trail, basically a foot in front of me. I instinctively lower my shoulder for the impact, but i ended up catching the tips of his skis with my shoulder and sending the kid spinning, like none other. He hits the snow and there is an explosion of gear. I stop immediately afterwards and fall over in shock. The kid was alright and i am alright, but holy shit if he had jumped a split second earlier, i would have hit him right in the boot and i probably would not be telling this story. The moral of the story is watch out for flying gapers!

I was cruising down the mini park, so of course there are alot of retards there and some little kid cuts me off going super slow so I swerve and hit his pole with my ski sending it 15 feet away over the ledge of this run (its on the edge of the whole mountain). So in the mean time i'm swerving away from this kid fast, don't realize how close to the edge I am and proceed to hit an ice patch and fall off the side of the run down the cliff like 10 feet landing up to my ass in powder.

well i went to this small hill by my hosue, going down this easy run, racing my friends. 2 ski classes of little kids somehow interlace, and while going 1000000000km/millisecond, i get stuck in the middle of them, some how manage to get out, cut a few kids off. i lost the race, by like 10 seconds, and parents were giving me dirty looks, so i gave them the f*ck off face and arm movement. then i just had somefun.

a couple summers ago i was dicking around driving a big john deere bucket loader. one of my friends we standing on the claw on the back. we were dicking around on a hill, i decided to try to do a rollback and see if i could spin the tires. i rolled back a bit and then slammed it into gear, the wheels automatically caught traction and sent us into a huge wheelie on a pretty steep hill. it went in slow-mo, i thought we were going over backwards and my friend on the back was dead, but the small buket she was sitting on slammed into the ground and sent her down the hill at a pretty fucking good clip, and the front end slammed down pretty hard, i broke a tooth on the steering wheel. it was my neighbors tractor.

i almost took off a 40 yr old guys head. he was stoped under a kicker and i about hit him when i landed. i almost kicked his ass. ruined my day

i was stopped on the side of the park...before there was stuff in it....so it was wide open and great for bombing. i was in clear view of the uphill skier and i was off to the side and out of the way all of a sudden my friend screams my name i look up and this snowboarder is coming straight at me...he hits me....ejects me out of one of my skis...and sends me 20 ft down the trail. i thought i was going to kill him. his excuse "dude i was airborne and couldnt stop" he kept sayin he was sorry. i hate stupid people.

but when im on a beginner trail i go slower cuz i dont trust stupid gapers to not ski in front of me. they dont know any better, you gotta be carful of them becuase they dont know enough to be careful of themselves ya know.

my cousin went off a little kicker night skiing last night and some gaper cut right underneath him. if he hadn't of ducked.... it could have been so bad. my cousin landed and we all just stood there shocked.

I ran into a guy the other day. I was coming off this trail at a hill I had never been to and I wanted to ollie off a trail down a little thing and onto another and I almost clotheslined on a rope and ran into a guy knocking us both down. He was ok but I felt bad because it was all my fault for running into him. I told him I lost control because I basically did like a noob.

i went off a pretty decent sized kicker and there was this one snowboarder cutting across the landing and the only way you could see him was if you looked over the side of the knuckles. Anyway i'm in the air and see him and yell at him to go to the side. He decides that getting out of the way means coming to a complete stop and i ended up landing on the end of his snowboard. I double ejected and he was nice enough to get my skis for me. It could have been bad though

lat year some stupid person hit me and i tomahawked all the way into some ghetto black guy... he was pissed... then later i hit the step up at pc and was like a inch away from the same guy. he got mad again... it was overall a scary day. I almost killed him, and he almost killed me.

no. but this one time, i was skiing with my dad and his gaper friend on the bunnyhill. im just buttring around and skiing switch and what not, and as im doing a steezy ass tail press a snowboarder hits me from behind.

once i was driving up a hill and the sun was right in my eyes so i couldnt really see anything, and then right at the last second i saw that there was a biker in the road in front of me. like my bumper was about a foot from his back tire and i had to slam on the brakes because i was accelerating. kinda scary because if i hadnt seen him it would have really sucked

Weve all been right there with you, doing the gaper maze and misjudging their/your speed or they do a funky turn you didnt expect. Sure you should slow down, but really, its not worth it heh. Dont really care to spend that extra time trying to wiggle my way around them when I could just shoot through the gap which will hopefully, not be filled by the time I get there~

back when i used to snow board i was flying down one of our steeper runs and this girl that i didnt see (one of those people basically going sideways across the hill because they're not good enough to stick to the fall line too closely) well she was going horizontal to the hill and i basically ollied over her ski tips.

I know excatly what you guys are talking about i think every time i'm at keystone going down river run at the end of day these close calls happen, any of you who have skied that run at 3:30 4:00 know what im talking about

two weeks ago i was hauling down a run switch and i see a small child over my shoulder going horizontal across the run, so i carve over the very edge of the run, but small child was skiing horizontally across the run in a wedge heading towards the edge & nearly cuts me off, it could've been soooo bad...

my friend told me that he thought I was going to anihilate the child, but thank god nothing bad happened. Either of us could've got severly hurt because if I hit the child that'd be a gnarly impact for the kid & also there was the potential of me hitting a tree since I was skiing switch on the very edge of the run (if i caught an edge, fell, or hit the kid it would've ended up bad I'm pretty sure)...

this year at PC I was riding up crescent with my buddy and my sister, and we where ripping on her for being a gapper because she is one. well i am at the top waiting for my buddy to strap in to his board and my sister starts down the hill that goes under the lift. I start down the hill and I am not bombing it but moving pretty good probably 25-30mph. As I approach my sister she looks up at me with a smirk still pissed about the ribbing and cuts me the fuck off and almost stops right in front of me. on top of that i was looking back to make sure my buddy was following us and turned forward to see my sister pulling this dick move. so i cut hard to my left and quickly realize i cant turn in time so I sort of dive off to my left an run over the front of her skis and then do a tumble and end up on my back. I get up and keep going like it doesn't bother me and stop at the top of a steepish Black diamond. well my sister now feeling bad about what she just did pulls up next to me to apologize but I just stomp on the rear binder and push her over poping off her right ski and through it as far down the hill as I can and take off. I feel kinda bad about the way I reacted now but it was the only thing I could have done to not deck her in the face. I mean if I had hit her we both would have been fucked up.

At Keystone there is a roller under the gondola. So I'm bombing down and the trail I'm on meets with another trail under the gondola where this roller is. I look up the trail to see if someone is coming, and there was no one there. I proceed my bombing down because you can get pretty good air off this thing. So I've got good air and this chick is in my landing. Praying to God... Praying to God... She finally moves out of the way. Seemed like 5 minutes. I would killed this poor woman.

Gotta be patient with Gapers and Greeners. We've all (probably) been there at one time or another. Ignore the old rhetoric but there is only one way to improve. Anyway, my story:
Watching the park from the lift the other day, this guy misses the landing on his 7 and ends up at the flat between jumps after having ejected. My buddies and I are shouting from the chair "not clear," and this kid on a snowboard takes off, lands on the knuckle and proceeds to ride down into the kid still on his back with a ski up the hill. The skier yells "What the hell man?" The snowboarder (new to the game) is silent for a moment, then gets up and the skier yells "How about apologizing?" The snowboarder PUSHES himself into the escape chute on the side of the three booters and rides out. The skier gets up, finds his other ski and sets out, not a big deal, but painful to watch.
I guess my claim is that training/explanation programs are important for everyone on the mountain, greeners and the more advanced. It sucks sitting for a park pass/whatever at each mountain that you're new to, but it beats getting ridden over by those that don't know. I'd rather waste the fifteen minutes of my life than the majority of my $60+ day pissed.

dam these are some pretty good stories.. i've never run into anyone, the closest i've come is getting yelled at by a patroller for popping off a roller in a no jump zone

I landed on a mexican at Boreal once. It was just in the tiny park, shooting over all the jumps, and this fucktard is sitting in the middle of the landing, dead centre. Thank god I was going as fast as I was, because I had just enough time to tuck my skis up and land on TOP of him.

And another time I threw a flat 5, and as I was spotting my landing I saw some idiot sitting on the side of the landing, if I had drifted we woulda been fucked. I'm pretty sure I started yelling at him before I landed too.

i was going down a groomed ridge in the middle of all this steep stuff on a pow day and some boarder came off a little drop onto the road and nearly hit me we were both going really fast too so scary shit...

i have a good one,

Last year i was taking a run on my race skis before one of the last races of the year, and im haulin ass over a really wide run. So i come over a slight knoll and there happens to be prolly a ten year old girl like 10 feet from me ( i think im going literally like 45mph).. on reflex i try and hockey stop, turns out it wasnt a good enough edge so im bowling towads this girl and again, on reflex, i fuckin jumped. somehow i did like a half side flip over her..

I was like shaking on the way up the chair

heading through the giant wooden gate at the park entrance going decently fast and some fag who ducked the rope to go of a little drop literally skied across the top of my ski

i slammed into a dumbass at the bottom of a roller after i hand dragged it. ripped my binding out

I DID THIS WEEKEND. almost i guess

i 180d the last jump in the medium park. land. look over my shoulder. and blam, some 3 year old girl just skiing across the landing. we brushed, and she came mm from death. i proceeded to verbally assault her parents.

Last hit in the pipe im spotting my landing, lo and behold, there's a little girl skiing underneath me, I still have no idea how she got there. I ended up throwing my upper body onto the deck of the pipe so I wouldn't land on her which hurt pretty bad. Her mom proceeds to go absolutely ape shit on me, so sucky.

i was gunning down a piste run that squiggles down the hil with hairpins at each end.... so i was skiing down, going pretty fast but there wasnt really any1 else on the slope, then the one kid who was on the slope fully cut infront of me and the only option i had was to go left off the piste, but its a steep drop onto the off piste... i flew over the off piste and landed on the on piste like 30 feet below, i wasnt hurt but boy it was fucking scary

like last weekend i rooked a revert over a knoll and caught an edge just enugh to disbalance me and just as i get balanced i look over my shoulder and i hit a snowboarders hands who was walkng down the hill under the knoll and her shit flew wverywhere but by the time she spun around and figured out what happened my friend just flew by her and somehow she didnt relize it was me vs him. i wear bright blue and green he wears twinkie biege. so we ski to the bottom and wait for our school trip instructor guy to come back and she comes down and craps on us so my other friend tells her to not be a bitch and that she needs to get her period in control she squirten everywhere. she was so chapped and rattled.

i got taken out by a ski instructor at tremblant last year. i do a 180 down the trail and just as i land switch this guy plows into me from above. his legs interlock with mine and he plows me straight off the trail backwards at full speed into a tree. ended my day but i was damn lucky that was all. on a lighter note i threw my poles on impact so hard that i never found one of them

you have to lay in to that mom about letting her kid run wild and causing you to eat shit on the lip, way to take one for the team though.

i had my biggest crash at tremblant a few years back. i'd just cut out of the north side park just after the second booter and took the blue down to the next chair. Had quite a lot of speed and as i went over a roller there was a boarder sat down in the blind spot, he stood up when i was about 10ft away and i just ploughed into the back of him, knocked me clean out for a couple of minutes and i bruised my back and some ribs, i think he bit his tongue or something cos he was spitting blood. Anyways, that sucked.

when i used to snowboard, abd let me tell you i suck at one-plankin' it, i was bombing a black... all of a sudden i look uphill to see a kid coming up faster then i was going... he runs over my tail and flies down face first... unfortunately there was like and icy "hill" like an ice bank lining the run (keep in mind this kid is like 6)... anyways, he faceplants into it, and i ride away because i was way too far past him at this time to stop... later that day i see him with a bloody line cut on his face in the exact shape of his gogs, and his nose was bleeding... needless to say i felt like a DICK and appologised (even though it was his fault)

I was riding with about 3 snowboarders at elk, real cool guys, we're all friends and kayak together too. So I have my hood up and kinda can't see to the side, and I'm carving to the right pretty hard. I glance over and see my friend heelside to me and carving hard left. We're both going like 30 mph or so and slam into each other. I don't know why but my first reaction was to lock on like a pitbull, so I grab him and we're both still going straight but wobbling like hell. We wrestled like that for a few seconds until balance came back and then we both just let go and continued on our way like nothing happened.

i was tree skiing the burns at Breck, and i came flying down a chute out of the trees onto the blue run leading to the lift, and some skier was riding really close to the right of the run and i came within 2 feet of ending this mans life. haha not really but had i hit him lets just say it would have ended an epic untracked pow line in the trees.

we have a step up jump at our mountain and little kids and gaypers like to "hit it". However sometimes the little kids get scared and go off to the side, however, before they go off to the side they slow down, and since it is a step up, you have to go up a hill to go around it. So I call drop and this little kid decides to go in front of my, so I stop and start side stepping back up so I can hit it. As he's going down the hill he decides to go off to the side. So now I drop, as I'm going down the hill picking up speed, then I notice it...that little kid didn't have enough speed to get up the hill and instead of trying to walk up the hill he goes back down towards the jump so now he's right in front of me and I hauling so I clear the step up. So I have to stop, but I tried to stop so hard my edges slip out from under me, I fall on my hip, HARD...(this was three weeks ago, it's still hurts, and the bruise is massive)...and I start sliding down the hill, skis first, it is then that I realize that the kids is STILL in front of me, and now my skis are headed straight for his head. In my mind I see myself cutting off this poor little kids head. somehow I stop with this kid a few inches in front of my skis. And, this is when I stop feeling bad, the kids turns to me and says "watch where your going!" Everyone at the top hears him and starts screaming at him, he gets up and gets out of there as quickly as possible. Pretty funny/scary/painful.

well I took off of a 40ft table top spinning for a 5 and spoting my landing saw a little kid skiing across the top...... I couldnt avoid him and landed side ways trying to stop so i wouldnt hit him and cought an edge floping the other way hitting him with my head.............. he was ok but he cried 9 more scared than any thing)

last year I was sessioning the park, and our hill is a little flat, so I was skipping the first step down and just using the landing of the 1st jump to get speed for the 2nd step up. Anyway, i do this like 10 times without a problem, until I come in and ollie off the knuckle to realize as as soon as its too late that theres this 10 year old kid sitting at the bottom of the landing trying to put his glove on or something. I basically landed like 3 feet above him completely mobbing and sprayed the shit out of him to avoid nailing him in the back at like 30 mph. Kid had no idea what was going on, I dont think he even spoke english. Scared the shit out of me though. Skiing collisions can be ugly.

Well this one time me and a couple of my friends were doing a switch race in a rally easy slope. No one was around soo we reckoned it was safe and shit and since we are all pretty good skiiers we are in perfect controle even switch. Soo we proceed to go down and this gaper douchebag in snowblades was going downhill he passed me and braked right after cuting me. I then tried to brake but he was too close soo i rammed into him pretty fast. At first i was like shit is that kid okay...Turns out its a adult fully decked in Snowmobile gear. At that point i just said : Are u out of your fucking mind your retard!!!! or sumthing along the lines of. Turns out he broke his wrist soo i had to help himm out till ski patrol got there... I never wish harm on anyone but that guys was fucking retarded

I was in chamonix last year and instead of having bamboo poles on the side of the trails, you know those 8ft. loli pop things, well theres are plastic about an inch in diameter. My friends and I are bonking a lot of them on our way back to the bus and i see one with a decent little lip about 7ft in front of it, so i straight line into it and tail bonk the shit out of it (claim). Anyways, it flexes forward, then backwards, then shoots out of the forward out of the snow like a rocket, it traveled 20ft, almost going straight through some Euro guys head, then striaght into the snow like an arrow. My heart dropped the second it happened, I honestly thought I was going to kill that Euro guy.
