so I already search past threads and saw that their was already one thread but it was posted almost a year ago... what I wanna know is who is edge and if their interested join this

I personally am edge but don't hate on people who are not... that's just being a zealot which I am not...almost all my friends smoke and drink but personally it's not for me...I wanna hear what you folks got to say about being edge

 
Why is being "edge" a lifestyle, all it is is not being under the influence. All of us were "edge" until we took our first hit or drank our first beer...

I say don't claim it. Just live and let live.
 
Yeah if you just happen to not smoke and drink I respect that and think it is an admirable quality but I can't stand self righteous zealots who think they are hot shit because they abstain from stuff.
 
At the same time, you get the people that brag and claim the shit out of everytime they get fucked up.

Don't "real" edge people not have sex either unless they are with someone really serious? I mean that is cool and all but no need to brag or boast.
 
I call my self edge because their are terms like pot head, drunk, junkie, etc... so what do us people who do nothing categorize our selves as?

and to the sex thing some people look at it in many different ways, for example I just don't flaunt my dick around cause that's how Eazy-E got AIDS...

I only really made this thread to try and get people to join the cult I started for straight edge people
 
umm people? idk, how about we just don't catagorize people, i think if people stopped doing that then wed solve alot of the worlds problems

on another note, where i live we dont have any "edge" people, ive never even heard of it until newschoolers
 
who fucking classifies themselves as a pothead, junkie, or drunk?

Those are all words with negative connotations. Do you want to have a word that represents a clean lifestyle to be in a negative group of classifications?

Whatever, i get tired of hearing about stuff like this, i could give a fuck what choose to do or not.

But the way i see it is that life isnt short or long its just life and death. The problem with that is that you cant live without dying, but you can die without ever living. And you havent lived enough until your dead, so your only real choice is to live it up right.

I think that a lot of people are straight edge because they are worried about there reputation and to me thats fine, but i do think that its not the best way to live.

 
Personally I used to be a big druggie and now I have changed my life style to being straight edge...I'm not trying to preach to anybody or what not just looking for other people who are edge to see what their views on it are and such.

To me it just looks like a counter-culture phenomenon. With every trend, some arise to go against it. It would be sweet if it was a real philosophy or something, but most sound philosophies dont need constant reaffirmation and "Is anyone else out there like me...?" threads.

Its great that you dont want to drink or smoke or whatever. But you shouldnt have to label yourself as something different to make your decisions make sense to you. Straight Edge is just another trend in the cultural ocean, and I think honest and true people can choose their own pleasures while maintaining their own identity, instead of subscribing to someone elses.

way or another i this day and age so I have accepted it and choose to

label my self as straight edge

and being straight edge is not some new counter culture it has been around since the late 70's

no I'm actually a Zen Buddhist as well as edge...being straight edge is not related to my religious views... some people that are straight edge are christian, or jewish, or etc....

but yeah like if you dont want to drink or do drugs then all the power to ya, but like said above dont go around claiming it and giving yourself a label. because no one else gives a fuck except probably your own parents.
 
i think edge is just a fad honestly. being clean is all fine and good but calling yourself edge... i mean, im a huge stoner but i dont go around claiming the fuck out of it..
 
Agreed, I dont smoke or drink anymore, personal choice but i dont ever call myself edge. I feel weird saying it. Nor would I want to be associated with "edge", i just dont bring it up until need be.
 
sorry, but calling yourself "edge" has to be the lamest sounding term you could ever call yourself.

Just say you don't drink or do drugs, this edge stuff is stupid.
 
I'm in my 4th year at ubc okanagan and this is my life choice people should just respect that I choose to label myself as edge

Most straight edge kids are just total tools. Some can be cool, but the fact that the majority of them make an effort to consciously point out that they dont do anything just makes it gay. To each his own tho right?
 
its more than just a lifestyle, its a set of morals that cross over for everything you do in life. I understand where your coming from when you say we all start off edge, but i have to disagree. Yes everyone didnt drink or do drugs since they were born, but when you claim edge, you dont do drugs or drink for your whole life. You keep your whole lifestyle clean and most of all its about a positive outlook on life. If it was as easy as just not drinking and doing drugs anyone could claim edge, but its alot more than that and its completely personal choice. Most of the preaching straight edge kids end up selling out, the ones who are true realise theres no point in preaching because its purely a personal choice.
 
In grade 11 I quit smoking pot and drinking, does that make me SXE?

The whole straight edge culture confuses the fuck out of me, I've never heard of someone devoting their life to not doing something. If you want to keep yourself pure and not smoke or drink thats great, less strain on the healthcare system.

But answer me this. Why do "edge" people feel the need to proclaim their abstinance to the whole world? Do you actually feel better than everyone else? Because thats the message I'm getting.

Another thing, SXE tattoos. Is this a joke or are these people so fragile they have to tattoo giant XXX's all over their body to remind themselves not to ever drink or smoke?

I'm not a mind reader, but when I see these tattoos I'm guessing this mentality is behind it.

"I've been doing this edge thing for a while now and I want to take it to the next level, what should I do? I know! I'll tattoo giant X's on my back and hands so that way EVERYONE will know how serious I am about not drinking!"

I think it's just become another way for people to feel like theyre apart of some movement or community. I would compare it to being a hippy.
