Anybody know how much drywall costs?

So i was at this kids house last night and long story short we ended up throwing knives into his wall. a lot of knives. So now i have to pay to get the wall fixed. i was just wondering if anyone knows how much that might cost? the area that needs repairing is about 3x3 feet, and the area is covered in holes about 1/2 to 1/4 inch deep.

any help is deeply appreciated, and of course will earn you karma.

p.s. i know it was stupid and reckless, but throwing knives is just too much fun

its a relatively easy fix... granted you need a wee bit of skilllz and materials.

first, sand the hell out of the entire area thats fucked.

2. youll need a mesh material thats available at any hardware store for repairing such problems.

3. drywall mud or the like ontop of the mesh.

4. more sanding

5. hope to god theres a can of paint in the basement of the house that matches that wall, and paint that fucker.

I lived the wild life in highschool, and got fratty as fuck in college. this is easyyyy

hahahah no shit. i did the same exact thing and the kids parents wanted me to pay for it. my skateboard nose got thrown through the wall too.. but my hole was about 5x5 cause it was spread out and it was big..ended up costing like 35$

Ive been in a similar situation throwing knifes is really fun. The materials will be relatively cheap, but the labor might cost you. Its and easy job, Ive done small drywall repair, it turned out great and I'm only 15 but you can really screw it up too, do your research. Good luck.

this. for big holes you can get a sort of metal plate with mesh on it which you mud over, same as the netting. Also, after one mud wipe it gently with a damp sponge to smooth it out, re-mud, then wipe again. Then sand, and paint. the key is getting the mud fully covering all the mesh, and as smooth as possible. any imperfections will be visible through the paint..good luck

if the holes are small enough you can just fill with hole filler for drywall, wait for it to dry, sand smooth then paint.

this is the cheapest way, but the key part is that they are small, and paint the entire section of the wall.

my uncle had a party when he was younger and his friends ended up puking on the wall. he figured he would just repaint it before his rents (my grandparents) got home, because it was white. he never waited for it to dry, and the "paint" was actually glaze. Him and my grandparents were more than a little suprized when they found shiny puke covering the wall.

just a little semi related story, make sure you do it right and you know what you are doing op

my dads a drywall contractor an 8x4 footer is like 6 bucks im not sure if you can buy it in smaller pieces but itll cost more to tape it cause idk if you have any compound probably not and i take it you dont know what your doing definitely consider hiring someone to do it

this

but you might not even need the mesh, just sand down around the holes then fill them in with spackle then when it dries, sand it smooth with the wall, paint.

hahahahaha i've definitely been in your position once or twice. it's a lot of fun, and always seems like a great idea at the time, but then you wake up the next morning like, "god damn it. thanks *insert blackout juice of choice here*."

you are probably better off just tearing the whole house down preferably when they are gone/ out on vacation so it can be a great surprise. they will love you for it

if you can just fill each little hole you might have a shot at doing it yourself.

But patching a 3x3 piece? good luck, especially if it's textured. Take a photo, put an ad on craigslist and wait for bids to come in. I bet it'll be $200.

from your story it sounds like you were not the only one participating in said knife throwing. get the others to pitch/ if the kid whos house it was threw any tell him to fuck off and fix it his god dam self. make sure to get ig'nant on any bitches.

like a year ago i got a real ninja throwing star and got bore so i threw it at my room wall like 100 times theres marks everywhere any my mommy still hasnt noticed yet

Yea, just patch it if theyre small holes. Its easy. I did it last year. If they dont have paint, bring a chip to Home Depot and they can match it perfect

dude, post up a pic of the damage. depending on how bad it is, a mediocre mud job, some sanding, and some paint could easily take care of it.

i don't like using the mesh. i use the old fashioned tape. just wet that bitch first with a spray bottle or sponge and it will stick right up. just gotta watch for the bubbles.

search it on google/youtube. there are all sorts of tutorials that are really helpful. i followed their advice and fixed an almost 2'x3' hole and it looks great; just gotta get around to putting the top coat of paint on.

definitely make sure that you do it in layers though: one thin layer per day (IE wait for it to dry 24 hours, then reapply..makes it much smoother and less sanding in the end). Make sure it's as smooth as possible too and only filling in the holes; then, in your subsequent layers you can feather outwards to make it blend better with the good wall. Also, make sure to put a primer coat of paint on it first: it's not too costly and it covers up any imperfections in the mud better than the regular wall paint.

Definitely check the tutorial videos though, I knew nothing about drywall and now feel pretty confident fixing shit that I fuck up all drunk. Good luck!

Oh, and in your case you'll probably only need some spackle, though the mesh tape won't hurt, just more work to fill in the tape properly. Assuming they're just stab marks--I'd guess anything bigger than a quarter would be good to start using the tape, I'm not expert though.
