Anybody here work at Grouse?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone here worked at grouse and could give me a little advice. I really want to volunteer at grouse to help teach ski wee. I think it would be an awesome way for me to get on the mountain more and give back to the mountain I've been skiing since I was like 5. I don't have any ski training certification which is why I want to start as a volunteer and hopefully take the course after the volunteering so I can start teaching. I had a friend who did it last year and she had a great time, albeit miserable due to the rain and conditions.

I believe I have the right credentials as I've been skiing and snowboarding for the last 10 years or so and I have work and volunteer experience. I volunteer at a day camp over the summer for little ones so I'm very used to working with 3-6 year olds. The only problem is, is that I don't have a reference number for my volunteer job. The number I had is for their "clubhouse" and is closed for the summer. I'm going to work today and will try to get a reference number, but my job is in the food industry which is a littler different.

Does anybody know how important it is to have references for the volunteer application? I looked at the application online and will fill it out after I get some reference numbers.

Anyway if anybody has any tips, connections, or any knowledge they could pass on that would be much much appreciated.

That's what I thought.... I sent them an email about it but the application form has references from work experience and volunteer experience. Plus I'm supposed to give 3 professional references I've known for more than a year.

Maybe it's not that important, but they're also only hiring 20 so I'm sure there will be competition for it.

i did that last year. you will need a reference. talk to laura ribbon she is the one that would be hiring you. it is a little early now but she told me to call sometime in mid octobre

Cool thanks, when you first got it did you apply online or how did you apply? I generally don't like applying online as it's very impersonal and doesn't usually get the job done.

i got hired by laura a few years ago with no references and only a paper route as a previous job just do well in the interveiw

Haha yea you that popular around there? Do you work there or? If I'm gonna name drop I should have a little bit of info haha.

I'm going to call their HR number today or tomorrow and see if I can talk with Laura or whoever is in charge of hiring. I'm not sure if they do interviews for this job, might be just based on resume which is why I want to talk with the hirer to get me an edge.

Do any of you guys have a direct number for Laura? I'm calling them but am getting tossed around and put on hold... If you do just pm me thanks!

Yea... after being put on hold about 3-4 times I hit a manager who said she doesn't start until like mid october... She did give me the email for a Toby Barrett who is the head of ski school? She said I might have some luck there.

I did email the email address where we're supposed to apply but I got nothing back so I'd rather know that I could get my application to the source.

Her name is Julianna. Are you doing it again this year?

I'm getting back into skiing after skiing from like age 5-12 then snowboarding from like 12 to now so I'm thinking this would be an awesome way to get me skiing a bunch. I skiied a couple times last year and still had a pretty good grip on it all.

werd im the same age. i dont know who she is. im gonna try and get park crew first and then if i dont get that im gonna go for instructor.

I took last season off cuz i was instructing in japan but i have worked there for the last 3 years. I try and dig out some contact info for you.
