Anybody a racer????

because park is far more fun, and expressive (not to mention, it is quite a bit cooler). i agree. it does not mean that racing doesn't create a GREAT base to gain other skills off of. i am planning on never going back to racing, but i will never regret those 6 years i put into it. so many kids who started skiing and went straight to park are awful all around skiers, and can hardly ski pow or anything. that is the exact opposite with the kids i know who race/have raced for a while.

^ i was being sarcastic, i used to race and it was the shittiest waste of time i have ever partook in. i learned nothing from it, as our coach would shit on us if he saw us near the park or a non-groomed run.all my non-groomer expirience was gained after i quit racing

i know you were being sarcastic. and i dont think it was a waste of time. if that is the way your coach acted, he was an asshole. park backs up some skills that help racing, and racing builds many skills that are very helpful for park and other things.

i was for seven years until i finally convinced my dad i was done with freezing my ass off at the top of a hill in spandex

Jon Olsson? yeah, he's a pretty good example. I think it's pretty obvious that racing makes you a great all around skier.

all the racers i know like touching their male genitalia togetherbut whatever skiing is skiing, im sure there are some dope racers/freeskiiers out there who go both waystake this how you want totee hee

you just contradicted yourself by saying that most racers dont think their good and then go ahead and say your the shit? and if you cant do a 360 then you dont freestyle ski

yeah, I raced my entire life. It's a great way to have fun on snow and is one of the most competitve sports out there. What ruined racing for me is when i started doing it for my college. Skiing is not meant to be a team sport. I know lots of good racers who also kill it at park. The obvious example would be jon olsson, who won the noram gs title last season. The reason so many racers burn out is because racing is an enormous time and lifestyle commitment. You have to be fully into it 5 to 6 hour a day 5 or 6 days a week. just to be at a competitive level. this is also the reason we havent seen jon slaying as many jumps lately, he has been spending to much time on the race sticks. Also if you need to wear a tall tee just to feel hetero when you ski you obviously have some serious insecurities about your own sexuality. race suits serve a purpose I.e. aerodynamics. No one wears them for fun. if you could win a ski races and dress like a thug, im sure lots of people would do it. Yess there are lots of racers on NS maybe you should ask a specific question about racing if you want to talk about it.

you know what everyone that says that reacing sucks? I pour my heart and sole into it and I am going for the gold. i know one kid who races and is the best in the northeast, hes a family friend, and he is pretty darm good at it too. if freestyle is what you love, then thats okay. i like freestlye a lot, and i dont care if you like that better than ski racing. but ski racing is what I love.

oh, that s funny, cuz I looked at your profile, and we actually went to the same elementary and middle school. hahaha

no, no, its sjust htat this girl in my classes cuz is in your class and another kid in my class was banned to go to your house..... haha

this use to be me back in the day when i raced NASCAR!!!!!

WGBR (wild grizzly bear racing) is the shit.

I am the Utah State Champ for it. /claim

The hardest part is getting the harness on the bear, then its smooth sailling from there on.

i raced when i was like 10 years old then realized how gay it was to wait in line for three hours just to ski really fast and let poles slap you on the way down for a minute.

Even though i'm not a racer myself and am not very fond of it, I could almost bet you all of the pro park skiers raced until they were about 13-15. I bet a lot of the people that are gonna read this are gonna go "bullshit, he has no clue what hes talking about." But the reason they are pro is they used the prior knowledge of racing and manipulated it into what they wanted to do.

I use to race then I said " this is boring, we do the same thing everyday.... gates"

So bought a pair of twin tips just to ride around and shred some north east pow, then just started to some boxes and jumps and really got into it.

i have a pair of slaloms planks and i do occasionally train with a race team; it's actually quite fun to rip up some groomers with edges that actually hold an edge on ice....

but you won't ever see me on slaloms when its a powder day, neither will i ever go on a skiing trip with only my slalom planks... i must at least have my fat twins for park n powder with me as well....
