Any tips on making own stuff

Looking to start making my own jackets and pants, any do’s and don’t on how to make stuff durable, and decent quality?

if youre just starting to make stuff, learn the basics on small projects first (hats, altering worn stuff) and work your way up. Starting a big project early on is way too overwhelming and makes you want to give up

Start with making hats and make sure to reinforce seams. Making sure to iron seams can make stuff extremely more durable

I would suggest going to a joanns fabric and buying a pattern for pajama pants. Make 5 or 10 pairs using the cheapest and hideous fabric you can find….after this branch off and find better materials and add pockets and other features but just a basic pair of pants is a good start and relatively easy. I took lessons at a sewing place… started with a sick ass pillow! Have fun but start simple….easy to get overwhelmed!

Use cheap walmart fabric and old sheets to start with. Once you get comfortable you should check out Mill Yardage. They sell polartec fabric by the yard for a decent price. I buy a lot of my fabric from them and use Etsy for trim, straps and small stuff.

I’ve never heard of Mill Yardage… looks like some decent prices! Thanks for that hookup
