Any sake drinkers on NS?

sake is so great. Brings a warming sensation to the body and soul. Very versatile drink, you can have warm,hot,cold and have different effects on the taste and sensation. Sake is a bit harsh if you get poor quality stuff, taste similar to wine mixed with vodka but the range of tastes from the many different types of sake is rather large. Higher end sakes can taste like orange, hazlenuts, cocoa etc etc.

Just wondering if any ns'ers have any suggestions of sake, or would want some suggestions to get started and learn how to drink this wonderful booze.

Sake + sapporo is a very good night.

Cold sake is better. If it has to be warmed, it's not a very good sake.

some of the highest end sake you can get is meant to be warmed. Typically a sake company will say how it intended the sake to be drank. Typically i follow these directions.

I've only had the cheap stuff at sushi restaurants and I love it. Don't really want to try the good stuff because then It will make me not like the cheap. I just love the way it warms up the body when you drink it feels so good.

I was at my family friends' house when my dad poured me, himself and his friend a small glass of sake. He said ''Kampai'' and we all lifted our glasses. When we put them back down I realized I was the only one who had gulped it down in one shot. Needless to say I looked like an alcoholic in front of everybody and my dad gave me ''the look''.

i drink my sake in 2 gulps from my sake set which is 1 oz glasses. I would pour you another. No one should die without having good sake. I am slightly intoxicated at this point in time.

you can pour your own sake but the host of the party cannot pour sake. the guests have to pour the sake.

sapporo is japanese beer, its fairly low end but i love it. Some of the japanese micro brewed beer is beyond amazing.

Sake is rice wine, but closer to 20 percent liqour content on most sakes. So if you are not careful, it will knock you on your ass.

Most sakes are a strong taste, not for the rookie boozehounds.

This. Sapporo is not sake. You need to acquire a taste for sake, the first time you try it, you'll probably hate it.
