Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone else on newschoolers was a pole vaulter its a pretty unique event and not alot of people do it so if your a pole vaulter tell me

 
I did it freshman year but then the pole vault coach at my school left so there wasn't anyone to coach it. I got 9' which was fairly good for a freshman but definitely nothing crazy. Now I do the 400 as my main event and do high jump as well. But cross country is where it's at.
 
a girl at a rival school of ours broke her pole and impaled and killed herself, so yes there is that danger.. Ive broken 2 poles and have seen at least 10 break and its scary as shit but if you know how to handle it its not too dangerous
 
Pole broke on a guy from my school when I was in high school. It was pretty scary but he didn't get hurt.
 
Mad respect to you guys. I was training in the gym with Steve Hooker a few weeks ago and the training he does is incredible.
 
i did my freshman and sophmore year. but i sucked hard so i played tennis where we dont run and its chill
 
i want to try it but i have no idea where id have access to a giant ass pole, a mat and whatever you call the thing your jumping over. looks really fun
 
my uncle went into a coma and has has serious brain damage for 30 years when he hit his head trying 17 feet. very cool sport, but just as dangerous
 
that is really good compared to what i have seen.

my best is 9', was out most of the season though cause of an injury.
