Get ready to be OWNED!

dumbest shit ever! It should go the other way. Everyone knows the bullshit it causes and corruption that ensues.

maybe, but i think the companies will be advertising their causes to whomever will accept their donations.

i just feel this further dilutes the peoples strength in influencing their politicians decisions.

I don't think this will change that much. Companies are cautious to publicly back candidates in fear of alienating customers. In fact, companies often give money to both parties, so that no matter who wins, the candidate "owes" them.

This just goes to show how important it is for voters to do their own research and find out what they're voting for, not who they're voting for, Too often, people vote on their perceptions of a candidate, and not on that candidate's policies. This country will be ruined by misinformed voters that don't know WHAT they're voting for.

I think you're confused on what the actual decision is. I think the Supreme Court ruled that companies can broadcast political messages. These companies aren't giving money TO candidates, but instead making their own commercials backing the candidates.

I'm not 100% what the campaign finance rules are, but I think that individuals can only give something like $2000 to a candidate - that's it, no special rules for companies. What you see though, are lobby groups running their own ads for candidates. I'm sure you've all political ads that are brought to you by Taxpayers Union of (Your State), or some other sort of organization or lobby group.

This is going to be the end of responsible American voting, I fear. People are swayed by media and marketing enough as it is. This is the last thing we need.

At the end of the day, Congress can pass all the legislation it wantsto reform campaign finance and the Supreme Court can make the final decisions on those laws, but it's up to the voter to know what they're voting for.

Know what you're voting for and go out and vote.

Luckily, 3/4 of the population doesn't vote....

It'll be interesting to see what happens in the midterm elections. A lot of the people that came out on the Obama bandwagon don't even know what midterm elections are and won't be voting. People are also angry about the economy, so I see the Republicans gaining back many of the seats they lost in Congress.

Obviously opinion there, but I fear you may be right. We're all affected/influenced by media propaganda/marketing. What we hear about candidates through the media is confusing enough as it is; this is just going to make it worse. Think about it; do you really think that having a campaign ad featuring Apple's signature iPod people is a good idea? Apple would never do it, but it's one of the many examples of what could happen. Or worse: "[insert candidate] uses this product! Vote for him!" Do you realize what this means for this country?

It's fucking horrible and doesn't allow for fringe vote candidates who actually deserve to be president to have any sort of voice.

if you can name the movie thats from i give you cred...ill give you a hint, not idiocracy
