Thinking about going there an im wondering how it is. For example whats the student population, campus, and city like. Also how hard is it to get to hood

I am currently a sophomore at PSU, I enjoy the Portland scene here personally, but can definitely not be for everyone. Student population is around 27,000, but PSU is considered more of a commuter school. Probably 60% of students live off campus. The city IMO is awesome a lot to do any day of the week also your about a hour and a half from the beach and Mt.Hood.

First year I lived in the dorms (definitely recommend it) where I met a ton of people and now everyone has their clicks, and everyone moved off campus and have their own houses and apartments around campus.

It can be hard getting to the mountain if you do not have a car. There is the Grease bus that takes you too meadows, but personally I do not like meadows as much as Timberline and Skibowl.

I do not know if you have been to Hood, or Portland at all, but I definitely suggest coming to a few tours to make sure you will want the inner city lifestyle

Message me if you have any more questions.

I also go to PSU and I am graduating in June (Yay). The only beef I have with the school is that it can be really hard to feel connected on the academic side of things. It will take a month to get an appointment with your adviser and even then they may not be able to answer the questions you have and you will end up talking to four different people just to find out about grad programs or what not. The school is the biggest in Oregon and it definitely shows, you get what you pay for and even though tuition is rising its not being put back into areas that will help students succeed overall.I am on the pre-med and exercise science track so there are quite a few students in my program and it can be easier to make a connection in some of the smaller programs so just keep that in mind. If you are looking to go somewhere that your teachers will know you and make time for you then PSU probably isn't the place for you but if you self disciplined and can do well in classes of 200+ kids then go for it.

I have not had this problem personally, but I am with the business school where they are very organized and actually contact you to make sure your on track occasionally.

class sizes are not that big about 30-50 depending on the room and so far every busniess professor I have had I have loved. I have heard mixed reviews on PSU just by the different programs and grad schools within in Portland State. It is good to take in to consideration what you are majoring in before you come to PSU as well. I highly recommend the business school at PSU.
