Any ideas with a boot thats too big

i have always had skinny legs and my foot is about a 8.5 in mens. last year I skied in a full tilt drop kick pro 25.5 and it was better then my langes but i still got shinbang but it was manageable. this year i got the new full tilt tw pros in a 26.5(the next size after 25.5) and i just started using them and what I have noticed it that my toe barley touches the end of the boot but i am able to move it up and down and also i can barely move my heel up but my shin feels locked in place, also i can do all of that with the middle strap fully buckled to its max and by the end of skiing all of them need to be maxed out and idk if its because the boot is stretching or something but its really annoying because i am starting to get shinbang again. i have a appointment on Monday to get them molded and to put a new sole in them because the current one is from my old boot. does anyone have any ideas?

Plain and simple, you fucked up. You shouldn't get boots that are too big for you. That said there are things you can do to help:

1: wear 2 thick socks. I did this for a year and it actually worked pretty well, those wool socks grandma got you, wear 2 on each foot, this will take up volume.

2.stores often have risers you can put under your foot, try those in there under the footbeds

3.booster straps- these are great for tightening up top and getting that boot to fit like a glove to your shin, wearing booster straps under the shell over the liner was my best shin bang defense I've ever had.

4. Go to your local Walmart or dollar store and get a bunch of beer cozies. These are the ultimate bum tool, cheap foam you can cut up to put wherever you need, or simply wear 1-2 at a time over your shin under your sock.

5: Save money to get boots that fit.

Godspeed

thanks dude i have booster straps and ill take to my local ski shop about risers also the ski shop just assumed that they would fit cus they where a size bigger then what i had but ig they didn't account for the bigger toe box

If its just the toe box thats the issue, those places usually have toe caps you can put in your sock and wear to take up space too

I had the same problem with my previous boots. I don't know how it's called but the shop I went to made a rubber footbed that goes between the liner and the boot. Full Tilts already have a shock absorber one that's kinda like that, but you could ask a shop if it's possible to do a higher one. They also gave me some kind of cardboard insoles to but above if it wasn't good enough, I guess it's the footbed for boots that do not have a rubber one to avoid the liner sitting directly on the shell. So basically try to put as much height as you need between the shell and the liner.

There is like a little shim that companies use to make their "half sizes" you could try that. Go get an intuition in the size you bought (or maybe even the size bigger) and get it molded and don't use a toe cap. That may be the best way to soak up some volume.

But yea in the future I'd always err on the side of sizing down. I measure to a 25.5 and ski a 23, I think most people size down at least a size.

Intuition liners usually take up more volume than stock liners. They also make a "Plug" liner that is supposed to take up even more space than the Power Wraps, maybe try one of those. Risers under the soles and custom footbeds can also help.

I’m a 9.5 and ski a 25.5 with a custom orthotic. But I’m a awesome skier. Get fitted by a professional to see what feels right.

nah they where my race boots and they were ass

I ski park in an RX Ri they’re most definitely not ass. That being said, they might not have fit your foot. Boots aren’t inherently bad, they’re just not necessarily a good fit for everyone’s foot.

No such thing as half sizes in the ski industry buddy

never said that im just saying that its not my first time buying boots and did u really have to make fun of me dude

Maybe because you’re NS name is bigger and a 26.5 full tilt is too big for you....

Jk I have 25.5 full tilts that are almost too snug but the 26.5 is like a swimming pool for my feet. Also feel way to high in the calf by a lil bit.

https://patriotfootbeds.com/products/liner-sleeve

These work well to take up some volume around the heel and ankle area and allow you to add and remove C and J bars without glue. You can also get shorter cables for Full Tilts so that you can get a better fit. I have skinny legs and run shorter cables on my Full Tilts. I am also lucky that Full Tilts fit me almost perfect with minimal boot work out of the box.

As far as the boot being too big theres nothing you can really do other than what has been suggested. Small boots can always be made bigger but big boots cant be made smaller. Also heat molding the liners will not make them smaller in spots.

explain plz

Any brand that sells full sizes and half sizes (e.g. 26.0 and 26.5) it’s just a placebo. 26.0 and 26.5 shells and liners will be identical. Only difference is the 26.0 will have a thicker foam spacer on the bottom to take up more room and account for that “half size”

oh that makes sense, thanks

Honestly? Sell them, go to boot fitter, and let them put you in whatever boot fits.

Whenever I get new boots, I don't care if I'm in a women's racing boot, as long as it fits properly.

nah good idea i was thinking about that but i got a half size shim and a insole that fit and if it doesnt work i just get shorer wires

As others reiterated, get what fits your foot. I used Tecnica Mach1s with a 130 flex in park. There’s things you can do to boots like remove the top bolt in the spine for a more “flowy” park flex.
