Any freestyle rollerskaters in here? Looking for some setup advice

Looking to get into it this summer just to cruise around, have been watching some Nicola Torelli...

What is the best setup? Been looking at some 4x90 or even a 5 wheel setup to feel more like I have ski's underfoot. Let me know what's good.

Kizer Element 90s seem like a good 4x90 frame that would be a similar alternative

In regards to boots just find something with a UFS (Universal Frame System) USD, Razors, Roces etc

go with 4x90. if your only goal is to cruise, don't get a UFS skate, they are flexy and generally won't have enough support for bigger wheels. (K2 is the exception to this as all of their big wheel skates are UFS.) I would not recommend Wizard off the bat, you don't need those to learn some freestyle slides and maneuvers. Just look for some 4x90 big wheel skates at oakcityskate.com or intuitionskate.com or Inline Warehouse.

Roces M12 (for narrow feet only)

USD Aeon 60

The lower-priced versions of these skates come with a stock liner whereas the higher-priced/"pro" versions of these come with a higher quality liner.

They are sized in USA shoe sizing, so make sure to look at the cm chart, especially for USDs because they do not size on the centimeter and half-centimeter. Also, every skate shell is made for two shoe sizes, not one (i.e. 6-7 shell, 8-9 shell, etc.). I can even dm you a spreadsheet of interior shell length for each skate if you feel like you need it.

Wow thanks for the info g! I’m guessing stock/regular liners vs the “pro” liner would be like, stock ski boot liners vs intuition liners? I’ll take a look at those skates, thanks again!

Yeah sort of, I haven't tried a lot of Razors or USD stock liners so i'm not sure if they will either "get the job done" or "feel awful". I've heard Roces stock liners are good and THEMs are fine. THEMs also can come with Intuition liners but then the complete is like upwards of $400. Btw not only the skates that are pro skates have better liners. If they have a liner by MyFit, Intuition, or Reign, that's the higher quality liner.

Is an aggressive inline skate like a Them 908 still good for cruising? Not planning on hitting the skate park.

If you don't want to do any skatepark stuff then definitely don't go with the 908. Both RB and seba are fine, idk how either fits tho. I think the RB has like a cramped toe box

Get aggressive skates

Idk how well they will transition to skis tbh but I know dudes who have picked up blading super quickly because they ski and i've also been told by someone that blading consistently helps with skiing coordination.

After skiing last weekend with heavy skis, blades feel great lol

Yeah those look great. also they're compatible with ufs frames so if you wanna try something different ever then get some ufs frames. You could even put aggressive frames on them if you feel like doing some basic ski-like grinds.
