yeah it cracks me up how the government fails to realize that there is no central entity that "issues" bitcoins or anything. The coins are literally generated by code

I use Robinhood, it's dope. Just got invited to the web version yesterday.

Robinhood is good for low money longer term trades, but it is not good for day trading or higher risk trades. They do not guarantee the trade is going to be made when you ask for it.

All my buys have gone thru promptly but I havnt bought any large amounts at once either. I just wish I could connect robinhood to my bank like my Schwab account. On another note, reading about the tucker vs chase bank case about buying bitcoin with credit cards then getting slapped with Uber fees as a cash advance.

A market trade will always go through right away, maybe not at the price you want. I only use limit orders on Robinhood unless it's a high volume stock. Unless we're talking about crypto on Robinhood. I was like number 5,500 on the wait list for Robinhood crypto but they start with certain states and apparently Minnesota takes longer. I love Robinhood!!

Went to some event with SEC people apparently the governement has no clue what agency should regulate cryptocurrencies, probably a lomg tome before anything seripis gets passed

I havent seen Robinhood delay a market value trade, but if you read their terms, it explicitly says it does not guarantee a market value trade when you order it. So, if it is spiking and you try to get in early, it theoretically could delay and you could catch it at the wrong time. This really only affects day trade type stocks. If you are day trading, you probably arent using robinhood anyway.

Limit orders will prevent all of this though.

I like and use Robinhood, Etrade and TD Ameritrade for different reasons. They all have their perks.

Oh wow, I didn't know that. My goal is to get over $25k in Robinhood so that I can pattern day trade with Robinhood gold and no waiting period for my funds. One day..

Keep working at it. I started with $750 on Etrade and am a pattern day trader by definition now (got over $25k and in some 5 day periods trade more than 4 day trades). Im not saying I grew $750 to $25k, Im not that good. I continuously deposited from every pay check and grew it with 1-3 month hold stocks and some day trades. But, now I have the capital to turn profits on Etrade after fees with less % gain. I have recently starting diving into selling short and that is working out well so far, but I know that can easily swing the other way.

Also, I dont know if this is the same for Robinhood gold for day trading. I doubt it would, otherwise no one would use it.

I hope you sold your BTC when it went full retard and then shorted it. That would be the most badass move ever. Congrats on your early moves on those though!

I got out on the dead cat bounce shortly after Christmas. I did not short it, that would take some stones with cryptos lol. I took my profits from all of my cryptos, leaving a small percent if it went even more retard (which dropped to near worthless now). Im back in XRP for a fair amount at just over .50/XRP. We will see where that goes. I have too many balls in the air right now though. Im not able to focus on everything and its showing in my lack of profits lately.

I get that for sure. With houses, work, investments, etc. it's almost impossible to profit short term. You work late one day and get owned. I am almost exclusively playing the long game now and I have "a guy" to manage everything real time.

I’ve thought about doing the gold account with robinhood but I thought there were still some type of fees,am I wrong? I have over the 25k mark I could add to robinhood but since I’m not online all day watching the candle sticks (buying low/selling higher) I am not sure the gold account would benefit me much. The ability to get transfers to clear fast is really the only benefit I see but Schwab is pretty fast and also I can deposit 10k into Schwab and automatically can spend 20k without any questions

On another note,I don’t have stake in bitcoin cause my balls aren’t that big but I have invested in other companies that help people buy bitcoin like square cash(SQ)

Hoping square can scale up and not get cut off by the Chinese tech companies

They suspect it was one of the company's executives. Crypto is only as secure as the holder makes it. If that's what is keeping you from buying any type of crypto, you don't understand it.

I understand it’s more risk than I’m willing to take. blockchain and the transparent ledger is just too over my head

Finally doubled my initial input into ethirium! I have been super lazy about trading, iv gone a month without trading before but it took about 4 months, however I never made a trade where I lost money. I don't see how if you trade with limits on GDAX that you can possibly risk losing your money so long as you're ok waiting for the market to rebound if it micro crashes. Pretty neat making a few hundo by doing nothing really. Now with more capital and day trading i can make like 40$ a day, pretty cool. Claim

Careful day trading everyday, look into wash sales if you buy back in to a position 30 days after selling for a loss. Just know you need to report every transaction on taxes. Just giving you a heads up incase you weren't aware. Better to hold for longer than a year if possible to get to a lower tax rate on gains

I can’t fucking believe the government expects all btc transactions to be reported. They’re never going to get the grip on bitcoin and crypto that they want

This makes day trading cryptos impossible. You will never make good money when your taxed on every transaction. I hold my cryptos like I do precious metals. Long term for the big gain, not small wins daily.

yeep, although i do think there is an argument for saying fuck it if you aren't messing with high 4 or 5 figure (USD) amounts, the IRS is highly inefficient and any audit incurred would likely be relatively random. additionally, there will likely be tax law reformation once there are new asset classes designated for cryptos, so i doubt there will be a large scale deliberate effort on the part of the IRS to go after smaller scale crypto investors before that point.

I've been thinking lately.. When investors take on a project they will take into account risk and decide what their required rate of return is for the investment. If you could calculate this for crypto, I wonder what it would be? This rate of return would be necessary to invest in it at all, versus the risk free rate. Random thoughts

It's up there with West Texas Oil Futures and gambling at this point, just much more interesting. You also have to consider your opportunity loss, because while you sit and hope crypto skyrockets, there are other much much safer bets that are yielding dividends, appreciating, or paying you rent. As always, diversifying is key. As long as this kind of stuff is your play money and not the farm, you're fine.

This exactly.

Unless there is a crypto change coming or a catalyst, you are rolling dice. Its just like betting on a lottery option or buying a stock because you like its name.

Fuck around money is fine for crypto, but dont bank on it unless you truly know more than what others know.

cryptocurrencies are a shitshow in terms of what the governement could do, right now the governement is fighting over who even has the ability to regulate it. also u can buy bitcoin through ebay like sites anonymously. The amount of fraud in ICOs is amazing too.

It hit a several month high today at $0.25/BAT with some pretty good news on both projects coming out. Was thinking of making a thread of it's own but figured I'd ping everyone here instead.

I wanna talk about BAT and how I think it could help sites like NS!

Brave/BAT trying to take over the digital advertising universe and I think they can do it if they get enough traction.

Basically, the publisher gets the lions share of BAT ad revenue and users are incentivized with BAT to opt-in to the ad platform where the user's private data never actually leaves the user's device.

Publishers could also incentivize content creators through the platform for exclusivity a.k.a if you want the good content you have to get off instagram get on NS and help everyone get paid proportionately.

From what I understand, the goal of this whole project is to incentivize better web advertising and privacy practices by involving as few parties as possible. No more shady 3rd party data brokers.

BAT derives it's current value in a speculative nature from the successes of these two projects that make up the core of the ecosystem in development.

This is not investing advice so don't listen to me lol... Coinbase posted a blog back in July that a lot of people seem to have forgotten. So far 2 outof those 5 have been listed so I'm guessing ADA, XLM, and ZEC will likely be next. Every time a new coin is announced for coinbase it pumps like crazy so they're a decent bet imo.

If you're looking into riding some higher volume/highly speculative/cheaper coins maybe take a look at RVN, HYDRO, or SC.

RVN

has been coming up through the ranks the last few months. There's not many "whales" in the community right now since there was no pre-mine and it's backed almost entirely by displaced GPU miners. They've been making some progress on their asset tokenization lately so it's been seeing higher volume. The biggest threat they're facing right now is the potential development of an asic miner for their mining algorithm.

HYDRO

is kind of a shitcoin right now imo but it's cheap and it get's decent volume on some days so there's actual waves to ride at times. Tbh I'm not even sure what the hell they're trying to do... I know it involves hydrogen power and green technologies or some shit but their website is mostly technobable fluff and some linkdin mugshots.

SC or

Siacoin, is a decentralized cloud storage platform that has been going through some major drama lately and it's preeeeetttty juicy! Honestly there could be a whole sitcom written around it but it's super cheap and is regularly top 10 in daily volume.

Waitin on XRP to drop to get more. I want privacy voins pike Verge and Monero. Zcash as well and maybe I should pay more attention to BAT. Tired of this BCH drama. It's making the rest of the market look super weak. Coinmarkeycap.com finally merged BCH and BCH-ABC today so maybe we'll see some positive movement if people perceive stability but with Craig Wright claiming he'll crash the market on a whim if he feels like it isn't doing any good. He's such an emo loser about all this.

XRP will come out on top in all this me thinks. People crave stability in their investments and this BCH drama is going to point people in the direction of Ripple/XRP since they have so many institutional partners already. If we see Binance list XRP as a base pair I think it could be game over for alot of bitcoin maximalists. The nature of XRP itself with the coin burn protocol built in will decrease the supply exponentially if day traders can use it as a base.

Anything based out of china I'm super skeptical about for no other reason than I could see the Trump admin make moves against them. They've put a blanket ban on Americans holding the Petro already and they've allegedly been in talks with Ripple about the BTC/Bitmain mining dominance in China and it has them worried a bit.

XRP is a smart bet imo.

Bump. Just loaded up on some. Lowkey doubled since start of 2019. Put it all into lake.finance portfolio while it's free to use.
