Anxiety and derealization

what up NSG, so my anxiety is really high pretty much all the time, and also i've been derealized because of that, so i was looking for an herb or a natural remedy if you will, to help with that, i've been thinking about L- Theanine for a while, anyway if you guys would help me out with this shit it would be greatly appreciated!

problem with the first one is that's what led me to getting into this shitty state. and second one, i'd rather not become an alcoholic. and third, please for the love of god!

pottery. No seriously whenever i throw on the wheel i just love it. All my stress melts away. that our just exercise a ton that usually works for me sweat out the stress. i dont think a herb is the answer. Pick up something that has another benefit besides stress relief.

hmm i would greatly enjoy giving pottery a shot now.

(sorry for not offering help op)

Volunteering helped me a ton, keeps me busy and i'm doing gratifying work.

Also drank a metric ton of Chamomille Tea during times of high anxiety, the warmth of a hot drink helps in general.

Keep your mind busy, anxiety self perpetuates itself because you worry about anxiety which causes more anxiety, find things that make you happy that you can do often and are available whenever.

when you suffer from anxiety to a certain extent, you literally lose touch with reality in a way and nothing really feels real. its really weird but ive been there, was prescribed zoloft, shit made it WAY WAY worse, quit that, started smoking again and i havent had hardly any anxious episode since.

me too man. i don't think I'm as bad as you but i have anxiety all the time because of much herb i would smoke/eat

If you read the thread you would know that thats what caused his anxiety in the first place...
I offer the OP one crucial tip however:
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE ANTI-ANXIETY MEDS. Even if you take them for a week, the physical and mental withdrawal will be the most excruciating thing you have ever endured.

i have issues with anxiety also... for me running seems to help a lot so i try to do that as much as possible

yeah I've heard this too. it messes with your brain chemistry even worse. try taking vitamin-B, eat almonds, tuna, blueberries, fruit, beef, milk and cornflakes. these all help with anxiety. also try taking prilosec. it helps with heart burn which can cause feelings of anxiety.

Im on the same boat as you and all these have helped me. :)

I take vitamin coq10 every day, which has been shown to reduce anxiety. I've definitely seen a positive difference since I started taking it. I don't know if it really works or if it's a placebo, but I'm not going to question it.

brock! i noticed the Kid A album cover as your emblem thing. ha I love radiohead. been to a few shows. best band in the world.

and also with the anxiety thing. rock climbing has also helped me loads with relieving anxiety. something about it. just love it

i went through a super bad anxiety spell last year. Before it was diagnosed was the worst. I was able to convince myself i was basically falling over dizzy and would freak myself out. One time i got my mom to call 911 because i thought i was about to have a heart attack.

I was put on clomazopan (sp.?) and i hate taking medicine. So i used it to my advantage and spent the period trying to overcome my anxiety. There is some key factors on which you can control it. Exercise is key, jog daily and workout. I also found that the busier I am, the better I feel. Get super busy because then you dont even have time to think about anxiety.

You have an attack when you start thinking about anxiety and it seems like a never-ending down spiral, if this becomes the case. Breathing is how you fix this. The panic is a result of lack of oxygen because while your brains freakin itself out you forget to properly breath. Deep rythmic breaths is how you get out of it, and its great to have friends to talk about something else with you to get your mind off of it.

I didnt become an expert at this instantly, it takes practice. I have been medicine free and basically anxiety free for 8 months and feel great.

Hope this helped!

Yea, I only get anxiety attacks when I smoke weed now, it sucks. I used to love watching a good movie, skiing, drawing, listening to music and stuff while blazed, everything was 20x better. Now I can't even take more than a hit or else the anxiety just takes over.

weed messes with me too man, but theres more to life then pot. Its great for some people, not so great for others. When i smoke it, its a minimal amount and i have to have the mindset that i want to smoke it, not get pressured into it if you know what i mean. But honestly, drugs dont go well with anxiety, so best to avoid them.

try running.... outside, along a long trail or beach.... a good 3-5 miles...

That should help you put the world to rights. I find it's mega for getting your head straight, either just with the wind, or with some tunes on.

I freaking love the wheel. So calming especially on a human powered wheel ( kick or treadle) I highly suggest it to anyone.

i told them it's a medicine to keep my nerves calm !

Work out untill you can't move, get someone to help motivate you.

Seriously, go run, lift weights, sprint, do push ups, P90x shit, run some more, untill you fall down from exhaustion. It's fucking awesome.

start doing super intense work outs, with a group, not on your own. after a few minutes all thoughts melt away except for the sweet sweet feeling of letting go. you barely feel your muscles, your body just does what its told and you dont think about what you were doing or who you were talking to before hand, the world stops spinning. non combat focused martial arts (not like tai chi, like kickboxing without sparring) seem to work the best for me.
