Anti X Games Hype

So super excited to see all these guys come together and shred, but I feel like competitions like X and Dew are all about doing the craziest triples. And all this new stuff from Intel that tracks motion is just going to bring down all the fun in the sport. It should be more about style and less about future spins and stuff. What do you guys think about all this?

X games is just another sold out entity that has virtually not effect in my life whatsoever. The day X games signed Travis Pastrata, the whole thing is about him and how much sponsorship money they can rack in. Fuck you corporate X games official, you can suck me twice.

Meh, it has its moments. There are always awesome, creative tricks (jossi switch triple steeze, vinni cash, butter tricks, schlopy's 1980) that more than make up for generic triples from the guys in schmedium outerwear.

I like X Games, it gives our sport more exposure. Some people feel that X Games shouldnt be about triples but thats just where skiing is going. The intel thing is just stupid, I guess the two things I would be interested in skiing is how fast they go into the jump and how long theyre in the air, I hope its not permanent with X, I feel like itll just turn out like the sports science thing.

I like big air and super pipe slope is alright but I feel like big air is where the most style is put down atleast for henrik and Vincent. I enjoy watching all the riders though.

You do you when you ski and whatever your style is. It's so damn popular rn to talk shit about X games and the "big corporations" that are ruining skiing. In a previous thread (https://www.newschoolers.com/forum/thread/820771/Rail-Help ) about 2 weeks ago you asked for "rail help" so I don't think you are one of the people that knows a ton about the industries and how skiing has progressed. It would surprise me if you DIDNT just post this thread because you knew people would agree with you.

Just because I'm learning how to hit rails doesn't mean I'm bad. I've been doin this for 2 years. I'm not completely stupid.

All I know is I CAN'T WAIT!! I'm finally going to my 1st XGames. Taking my son for his 21st bday! Taking in some concerts too.

I'm only bummed that some of my favorites aren't competing. Schlopy, ABM, Henshaw, and especially Wallisch! Seems he's done competing. Comps won't be the same for me without his style and smile.

skiing is on TV and thats pretty sick in my opinion. Style has its place, so do triples and racing and every other kind of skiing. Skiing evolving and progressing can be in different directions, thats the beauty of freeskiing, it can be what you want it to be. Would it be sick if style was where all the money, sponsorships, television exct. was, yes, but it's just how it works. Someone watching on TV who knows nothing about skiing isn't going to be stoked that some skier threw a different grab with a stylish trick. They'll be more apt to watch hearing about someone doing 3 flips, corks and whatnot . Sadly thats where the money is, think of the expenses X games has, of course they are going to do what it takes to keeps them going.

Also, X games was going downhill years before anyone ever tripped, or even dubbed. You're probably 10 and started watching it 2 years ago though.

There's a big list of things that matter more. Like how xgames will replace any sport at any time with something involving a motor. Tricycle drag racing or something.

Park comps like X games, Dew tour, etc is another area of skiing...thats what they're all about..big tricks and big spins and what not. Its a massive event, yea it doesn't represent our sport perhaps the way it should but than again the media doesn't represent anything the way it should.

Just enjoy it for what it is...the highest level of park skiing on the planet
