Anti-skating boomers

K so this is something i need to get off my chest, earlier today i went over to my go-to skatespot, i dont live near any parks so its the best skating i can get. However while i was skating some guy who seemed to be in his 60s approached me with a fucking hammer ???, like he didnt even bother to ask me to leave, he went straight to threatning to call the cops and kick my ass, i decided to play the whole thing cool cuz he had a camera in my face and i didnt really have the energy to even argue back. i just peacefully left while he was shouting death threats at me. like i understand that alot of people are cool with skating and those are people i can admire, but theres always that one boomer with no self respect who decides to threaten skaters for having fun. Skateboarding has such a bad reputation for no apparent reason. Like god forbid i decide to be productive and get some exercise rather than sit in my basement alone and shoot heroin. I hadnt even been with anyone at that point so he couldnt even accuse me of spreading corona, i had literally done nothing to aggravate him. I still plan on heading to that skate spot regularly, and if i get approached by him again, u can bet ur ass im recording it and posting it on this thread.

Its likely that he's had experiences with other skaters who wern't as nice about leaving. People tend to assume that all skaters are the same person.

Oh of course not haha, people are fucked. One time my friends and I were skating this ledge/curb behind the grocery store in my hometown and some old dude/manager came out telling us to leave. We said we werent bothering anyone (the way the store is positioned, we were out back so nobody could even see us)

He came back 2 minutes later and poured FOUR gallons of milk in the area we were skating so that we couldn't hit it anymore.

We were polite and quiet the whole time, not littering or smoking or anything. People are just crazy and hate skaters.

Lol this reminds me of a time I saw a longboarder bomb a hill near my work when I lived in UT. He skidded to a stop as I was pulling away from the office and had a dress shirt and tie on because that is what I had to wear. He was on the sidewalk as I pulled up and rolled down my window and said, "Hey". He looked at me pissed off like I was going to chew him out but instead I just said, "Damn, kid that was fucking sick!" It was funny because he was so expecting a fight and I had on a tie it took him a min to process that he was getting props.

As a kid this happened to me dozens of times. I got kicked out of every place imaginable, yelled at by cops and school administrators more times than I can count.

The only thing I understand now as an adult is that private property is really expensive, and people who run businesses put everything they have into keeping their storefronts open and nice, if they let you stay they are opening themselves up to liability if people get injured.

Other than that, who cares. If someone wants to skate a rail at a school on Saturday or whatever just let them be. No reason to get mad about it.

Ya bro but the thing is i was on the roof of a closed school, like its public property and it hasnt been open in forever, the guy who gave me shit for it didnt even work there, according to him i was spreading disease even though i was entirely alone

Liability is really the big issue. Its usually the same story- Kid cracks skull on skateboard behind store, parents get $47,000 ER bill and freak out, parents call local skeezy lawyer they heard on the radio to sue business to cover medical bills, lawyer pulls some bullshit in court saying the business was not active enough to keep kids off property, business ends up getting hit with the medical bills and court fees.
