So it's that time again, NS.

Looking to get my first ride, and trying to get a couple of ideas of what you guys have found are decent cars.

First off, the list of demands:

- Hatchback / Wagon / Small SUV

- $5 000 - $12 000

- 50 000 - 130 000 k (yes, i'm in canada)

- AWD or 4WD

Yup, that's about it.

I've got a family car, 2003 Tribute for around 3 000~.

Open to options, inb4 buy a Subaru, although still open to Subi's.

Thanks Guys

audi's are really great in the snow and hold up well. any a4 or s4. Parts/maintenance will be more expensive.

My recommondation would be a toyota 4runner or tacoma. They are the best vehicles ever produced. they last forever. They do run expensive up front but its so worth it in the long run. they'll last 350,000miles +

As the man above me said, buy a 4Runner. They're built on a truck chassis, easy to drive, and last forever.

Those are good suggestions, the Audi's are up there price wise though. Thanks for the input man, +k

no problem. always happy to help someone on a big purchase. Any other questions pm me. Others good with cars on here are WikiWiki and tronned. I believe AR6rider too.

with the amount of money you have, you should find something no problem. Most important thing is past history. try to find a single owner car that was well maintained. Also not someone who is 17 or 18 who beat on it.

German cars are very good quality but are more expensive. Toyota's are tanks. american cars are just all around cheap, IMO of course.

What exactly are you trying to get out of your car? Looking for something sporty? Cheap maintenance?

Audi's are nice until you need to get them fixed, then theyll empty your pockets.

If your looking for a small SUV Id do what the people above have stated and get a 4runner or a Forester.

If your looking for something sporty I'd definitely get a WRX wagon or a Forester XT. Super reliable, AWD, good cargo space and reasonable maintenance cost on the rare occasion that you need to fix them.

Good question, I'm looking for a pure winter driver, as I bike most places in the summer. So A/4WD is a must, and it's also got to be good on highways (driving to mountains, obviously). Getting to work everyday kinda thing, that's about it. The Audi's seem a little pricey around here.

Anybody have any experience with Suzuki's? There's SX4's all around here...
