Another "What camera" thread (under $350)

I apologize in advance because I know someone has probably already asked this question, but what is the best camera for taking pictures under $350? I already have a gopro hero 3 that takes good enough videos but I want a camera that I can zoom in and take good quality pictures with. I guess I'd call myself a beginner because I don't really know what the different types of cameras are, I've just heard something about dslr cameras and regular point and shoot. I was looking at getting the Canon powershot sx510 hs for around $200, but if anyone else has a better camera for under 350 that takes great pictures and can do a little bit of filming it would be greatly appreciated if you could help, +K for good advice

Id say get a dslr. They will allow ypu to grow as a photographer and as a videographer as you get better. You will outgrow a point and shoot quickly if you are serious. I reccomend a t2i with kit lens for that price

Although true, beginners don't really need all that. I started with a t2i and a lens and nothing else. Made a diy caddie cam for less than 10$ for better angled shots. Still worked good for me, definately worth the money

Reread the op and tell me when you thought, ya this guy os the kinda guy wholl blow 700 bucks on a mic and tripod. Not saying its not a worthy investment to get nice shit but the nice thing about dslrs is that you can be as cheap or as fancy ad you like

Get a T2i, then try to find a kit lens, or a couple of vintage primes for around 50 bucks or so, and you should be set from there. (some old knock-off brand lenses like a 28 and a 50 wouldn't cost more than 50 bucks for the lenses and adapters if you keep a good eye out)

Scour parents and relatives basements/attics for old cameras and adapt those lenses you might find, go on craigslist and find a 10$ old steel tripod, make DIY shit that you can build for pocket change with hardware store items.

Honestly, starting with a body for 300-350 and building frugally from there is such an affordable way into video/photo.
