Another video of a cop getting exposed.

In Illinois (where this took place), police officers are exempt from the law prohibiting the use of cell phones while driving...as are emergency first responders.

So the cop wasn't doing anything that he would get in trouble for. He could have been a douche and still written the ticket...probably could have found something else on that truck to violate the guy for....license plate light out, etc., but was a pretty nice guy about it all.

A police officer and emergency responders are allowed to use their cell phone for things related to doing their job. If it is found that officer is using his cell phone for personal use, they are are held to the same set of laws and regular citizens, and should be reprimanded.

This video is hilarious. Illinois just finally changed their very old eves doping laws, that previously prohibited recording of police officers with sound.

What happened here is really funny and simple. The cop was speeding and talking on his cell phone completely unrelated to his job.

Which is why his attitude completely changed when he found out he was being recorded. Which is why he came back with a safety inspection form instead of a ticket.

The cop didn't know if the trucker had footage of him actually speeding and on his phone. So, to defuse the situation he tried to be buddy's with the trucker and came back with safety inspection form. lol

If the trucker filed a complaint with ISP, and it was found at that time of day he was on his phone unrelated to his job, he is supposed to be reprimanded and held to the same standards as everyone else.

Proving the speeding one is hard because the trucker doesn't have a radar.

I don't think it's possible for anyone to get down to your level.

I like this guy.

And right before the cop leaves the first time, the trucker points out that he had it all on his dashcam. Proof of the cop speeding. Since the cop had NO reason for either one of the violations his "enforcement" of the law quickly changed. Funny huh?

Only for police related business, if you actually read this thread I stated that he was probably using it for personal use, that's why he backed off.

Oh i didnt realize you were in the officers car with him. Good to know

If the cop were using it for official business, why would he change his mind so quickly? You can put things together , you know we all have brains.

Ah, the kid that just can't seem to get enough of me.

I actually find it funny, instead of responding with something that puts me in my place, they "rate " my comment like it actually means something.

Feel free to leave the thread. If it makes you angry you can waste your time elsewhere! Since you apparently have no life outside the internet , I recommend buzzfeed, I think that'll suit you well.

I'm not angry at all. in fact I'm actually pretty happy.

What the hell is wrong with the officer? He clearly knew there was no way the guy was going to stop arguing, and since he didn't want to fight/the guy didn't really do a substantial crime, he just kept the peace. There's no need to argue about a thing like that, and he chose not to. Props to him

Dang! So since the guy argued with the cop, he didn't get a ticket ? Boy, I might be able to get away with murder !

That's how he should have approached it instead of honking like a jack ass because ultimately, he has no idea whether or not the cop is on an official police call and it's not his place to investigate.

that's what lights and sirens are for, dumbass.

and this worked out better, because the cop got exposed as fuck.

This. Just because there are bad videos of cops doesnt mean that every cop is bad.

most of my experiences with police have been bad, I really do think there's more power triping unfair police officers then there are "good cops"

Maybe so. But this is Illinois we are talking about. Most likely that would have done nothing. Such a corrupt state, one of the many reasons why I am moving.

wait, so you're saying that the cop needs to turn on his lights and sirens to call back to the station/another officer/contact to check on ....*insert any number of fucking reasons a cop might have to make a phone call that isn't an emergency*?

cops have radios you fucking idiot.

If a cop is speeding I believe they should turn on light/sirens.

and it's pretty obvious this cop wasn't using his phone for official business. If he was, he would've given a ticket!!!!!!

hahaa most people on this site don't trust the police!!!!!!

is this saying something?

about 48% of America does not think police are held responsible for their own actions. and most of that 52 is probably much older people who don't know any better.

1. That's complete bullshit, and would take away the whole purpose of the siren.

2. The cop was most likely on his radio, and the idiot truck driver thought it was a phone.

3. Again, the cop was just trying to be nice after he realized the guy wouldn't stop arguing.

90% of the reason people hate police is because weed is illegal, and kids do dumb things and don't think they will get in trouble. Keep hating on police, and when you're getting mugged on the side of the street beg for them to come and you'll never say shit about them again. Police risk their lives to save peoples asses everyday. Sick of people bashing police because they get in trouble for doing dumb things.

Lots of speculation there buddy.

1. If he was speeding then he should have his lights on, responding. Being a cop doesn't give you the right to drive however you like. A few years ago a reporter followed around a bunch of cops, and recorded them driving. Some of them were driving double the speed limit to go places like their house, or to a class. The best one was a police driving instructor that was late for his driving class. If the cop is speeding he should be responding to a call.

2. How do you know he was on his radio?

3. The cop was actually a decent guy. I will give you that. However, he wasn't just being nice to stop the arguing. His whole attitude and demeanor changed when he was told he was being recorded, along with the dash cam on the truck. If he hadn't been recorded, 100% the trucker would have gotten a ticket.

Nothing to do with weed. Most police officers are good guys. But there is a small percentage that are terrible ruthless people that feed on the power they have over others, and are crooked.

Once again. If anyone doubts me come spend some time in the northern suburbs of Chicago. More red light cameras, and police then you can imagine. With very little crime. My home town has over 100 officers! For a town that hasn't had a murder or serious crime in years. All their efforts are for revenue. Tickets, and dui's.

Mugged? Funny because when you need a cop they are never there. Only when you don't need one, are they up in your face.

The cop handled that very well, in the beginning it was kinda iffy, but after he went back to his cruiser and came back, he was very respectful and responsible. I'd definitely consider this guy a good cop, which is saying something because I generally don't feel that way.

Come to Illinois. The most corrupt police state in the U.S. ISP will look for ANYTHING to pull you over.

read my bio, i live in Illinois and ask me or iskipc1997 who lives in a reasonable proximity to me, the cops in my town make it their job to pull over anyone and everyone. wether its going 5 over or longboarding down a hill, they will get you for something.

I hate to say it but small town cops who take their job seriously, don't need to be a cop. they abuse their power because they don't see any actual action. Their basically Rent-a-cops when you get to a certain point.

This thread shouldn't take away from the heroic duties of law enforcement officers who do their job with honor and respect of their citizens that they are paid to PROTECT AND SERVE not HARASS AND HASSLE.

Just because they possess a badge does not make them any less or more human that you, and some need to be reminded that.

Cops are a fucking joke. All they are is taxi drivers for accused criminals to get to the courtroom.

I've had many experiences with them and they reinforce my opinion every time. Fuck the fucking pigs.

The trucker was kind of a dink to begin with, but of course everyone on NS will ignore that fact because the other person involved is a cop.

Additionally, I'd be willing to bet that most if not all of you exceed the speed limit regularly, and most of you talk on the phone while driving at least occasionally (which, to be honest, isn't a huge deal compared to texting, your eyes are still on the road) yet you think you can hold the officer to a higher standard than yourself. That's bullshit. Until he's doing police stuff, he's just another motorist like you and I.

I know somebody's gonna say oh yeah but it's not fair because he knows he can get away with it. So what? I know I can get away with the same things because I live in rural Montana and outside the towns there aren't any cops. Yet you don't complain about me abusing my power as a citizen of Montana.

Not to say that there aren't any bad cops doing fucked up shit out there. I know firsthand that there are. But this isn't a big deal and is blown way out of proportion.

There are numerous reasons why a phone would be used over a radio for police work.

Give me three, whenever I've had my ID called in its always been done over radio.

Guarantee the trucker would've taken his "unlawful use of horn" ticket to court because of his video, and his own personal dashcam. The cop that issued the ticket would appear as well. And yes, the cop did do multiple things wrong but I shouldn't have to explain that to you.

Please explain what he did wrong? He was legally using his cellphone, and was being a overall decently nice guy.

I've had great experiences with officers and terrible ones. I've never done anything "dumb" to warrant my bad experiences. And I still don't trust police officers. They are public servants, I pay them to serve and protect me, and 50% of the time they don't do that, usually quite the opposite.

13049049:zzzskizzz said:

1. Talk to the shift commander/station/another officer about any number of things that you don't want to broadcast over an unsecured radio frequency.

2. On the phone with the state's attorney about an upcoming court date.

3. On the phone with the station about a message that was left for the officer.

4. On the phone with the hospital to check on patient from a recent call.

5..etc

6 etc

7 etc

there are a million things a cop would use the phone for that wouldn't go over the radio....
