Another reason I hate baseball

Really josh hamilton? You're blaming your bad games on the fact that you have blue eyes?

Baseball players are a joke..I guarantee you would never see a professional athlete in any real sport (ie. football, hockey, basketball, rugby) complain about his baby blue eyes being the reason he is doing bad

I dont even understand how 75% of mlb players are considered professional athletes.

http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=6696741

Im willing to bet that hitting a 95 mph fastball 420 some feet or greater consistently is one of the hardest things in the world to do. You could spend every day for five years trying and you probably wouldn't even come close to hitting it once. So ummm yeah STFU

dude you are crazy. pro baseball players are amazing athletes. they have to be able to throw the ball a fucking mile, and be able to stand at the plate and figure out what the pitch is and if they want to hit it within like half a second.
Claim, but i know a lot of people that play, played, or coach in the MLB. all of them are amazing athletes

MLB just plays way too many games. It's impossible to get excited by any one game because it doesn't matter. It's only one win/loss out of 160+ games.

k wait a second here...im going to ignore the josh hamilton rip because of your rip on baseball.

at least in baseball, there aren't a bunch of money hungry fan hating bastards like the owners and players of the nfl that are just about to jeopardize the entire season because they are a bunch of greedy assholes.

Second, its been debated 20 million times on NS...baseball and football are completely different.

Football is so lame...the game broadcasts for what 3 hours? and there is about 11 minutes of action in every single game....shit the longest nfl play will take 13 seconds and that is a kick return.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704281204575002852055561406.html

that is wrong....in 2009 the Twins and Tigers played a game 163, to determine which team would win the AL central....so being that they tied....every single game mattered for that game 163.

I understand that there are some amazing athletes that play in MLB, but soo many of the players on teams are absolute jokes

how about when bartolo colon pulled his hamstring jogging to first base last week? That fat fuck is embarassing

This thread was more to complain about josh hamilton, a former mvp, making excuses about HIS EYE COLOR

im pretty sure you could make the same argument for a baseball game..they are usually around 3 hours and an average "play" like a double, home run, or throw out usually last about 5-10 seconds?

once again, you don't know of pro baseball players, so you are basing your argument on what you see on TV. in reality, pro baseball players are top notch athletes, just like athletes in any other pro sport. the guys that i know and see are tall as big, tall, fast, and strong, and they have the mental patience and stamina to wait for their pitch and jack it.

But you couldn't have known that until the end of the season. During the season, I still would have been thinking "well, if they lose, they've got another 80 games to turn it around, so this game doesn't matter."

Then even when a team makes it to the playoffs, they get three games that don't matter before they actually have to start winning. MLB even makes the playoffs uninteresting.

yeah thats single guys greedy about money....the entire NFL both sides players and owners and money hungry bastards that can't agree and are stopping a season basically....that doesn't happen in MLB.

i didnt mean for this thread to turn into an entire piss fest between baseball/football or whatever

will at least one MLB fan please acknowledge that josh hamilton is blaming his eye color for his batting problems?!?!! even as an avid protester of MLB I completely appreciate what a beast hamilton is at the plate...but how bad does it look for your sport that a former MVP is blaming his eye color for why he cant hit during the day?

don't get me wrong, i am a huge football fan, and love the nfl, but this comment makes a lot of sense. it seems like the majority of players in the nfl are cocky, ignorant, and spoiled. at least the majority of baseball players keep their mouth's shut, and just go out and play. i don't think manny ramirez can even be compared to guys like Chad Ochocinco, Adam Jones, or Albert Haynesworth.

Yup just like the 2007 NL West game between the Rockies and Padres, it was soooo crazy. Went 14 innings and was won off a sac fly and Matt Holiday barely making it home safe. Coors Field went fucking nuts. Probably the most intense sporting moment Ive seen. /static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

This is the 163 game. Tie breaker. Just watch the highlights. Most intense game you'll ever watch.
/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

Yes very good point, that it is not EVERY player...but the NFLPA is just ruining that reputation for the normal every day player.

and to the Rockies game 163 guy, loved that game. here is the one i was at.

/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

myslef im not a fan of baseball i think the sport in general is pretty gay but with that being said that doesnt mean the athletes arent athletes, there pros just like in any other sport and there in top physical condistion

baseball is one of the most boring sports. but heres a joke my friend told me the other day, i loled. how are cardnals fans and gays the same? the both love pujols (pooholes).

OP is just mad cause he played right field in little league, or he throws it like this.

and john hamilton also used to do heroin, so...

images

that was a pretty bad joke and to the OP that was a pretty ignorant comment. Most baseball players in the mlb are in top notch shape. And even though bartollo colon isnt in the best shape, it still isnt that easy to throw a baseball 100 times at 90+ mph

this. although, it's because I played baseball through HS.

I'm not gonna stand up for any whiny MLB players, but not calling baseball a true sport is fucking pathetic. You're a moronic dickweed.

OP is stupid. Baseball players are some of the best athletes. They have to be in incredible shape just to stay healthy during the season, yet alone perform at the highest level. Also, what other professional sport do you know that has 6 levels of leagues to make it through?

Rookie Ball

Class A- Short Season

Class A

Class A Advanced

Double A

Triple A

MLB

Not to mention only 10% of professional baseball players make it to the MLB.

i won't argue with the athleticism of pro baseball as a whole, nor the difficulty. but i will say that a lot of the players themselves are fucking pussies compared to the rest of professional sports.
men play lacrosse during boys' baseball season.

fast balls are hard to hit blah blah blah i bet you cant throw 90 mph blah blah blah

I dont give a shit if you think baseball is a real sport or not...you should be embarrassed as a fan that the former MVP of the entire league is blaming his day batting average on his BLUE EYES

dude is a straight up pussy

yea true. hamilton's a chode. good thing my giants shit on him and the rangers in the world series last year.

I'm sure that was your intention, and you probably wouldn't have been hated on nearly as hard if you'd just stuck to that.. but the moment you call baseball not a "true" sport is the one where you look like a prepubescent fucktard, that everyone will obviously hate on. Not to mention when you came on this site you couldn't just find your own fucking icon.. but i digress.

^this

You cant base that argument on select individual players.

And every sport requires plenty of skill. In order to become pro at anything you need to be a lot better than thousands, even millions of people. Baseball I'd say especially, considering it's "America's pastime", and the coordination required to play is incredible.

Pretty stupid rant thread if you ask me.

I agree with everything but your second paragraph. You probably do not live in Pittsburgh because we have been deprived of a Pirates winning season since before I was born (18 years), and yet still good seats cost upwards of 70 bucks and you get a hot dog and a pepsi for $7.50. There is literally no reason why a sports team should go 18 seasons below .500. The reason the prates do every season is because our owners would rather make more money than the rest of the teams in the league, but they do not spend that money wisely. Our first overall draft pick this year was a pitcher from UCLA who had a losing record. Now tell me baseball owners are not money hungry fan hating bastards.

Oh and the Pirates owner also owns Seven Springs, my home mountain. He bought it about 5-6 years ago, and although we have sick parks, the family feel of the mountain went to shit. The food is mediocre, there are no live bands anymore, instead speakers hooked up to an ipod, and on opening day lift tickets sell for $70+.

/End rant on Bob Nutting and the Pirates organization.

are you high?

you do realize that the MLB's season have been shortened a couple different times due to player strikes.

Why do people only look at the superstars when when money issues come up? At the AAA level most players make $2200/month...for the season.

But in my experience baseball takes the most skill to play. Basketball is takes the most pure athleticism, and football the most brute power.

thankyou for finding the exceptions ya jackass.

and for the record, pitchers are not athletes. Ask any position player and they will tell you the same thing. they are excluded from the argument.

Your ignorance makes me want to punt a kitten. If you were up to bat from a mlb pitcher, the second that ball leaves his hand, you would pussy out and cowar like a bitch. Every sport is "a real sport" and every sport takes mad skill and talent to become a pro.

I am a fan of baseball and I can say that I am not at all embarrassed that Hamilton made up that excuse. WHy should I or any other fan be? He is the one who said it, so he should be embarrassed and yes it does make him look like a pussy. But one player does not represent the whole league and fan base so no one else should be embarrassed but him and to think otherwise is completely ignorant.

lol, everyone hits better under lights. Its honestly the truth, just like when dusty baker said that darker skinned players deal with heat better than lighter skinned players. just cause you dont like it doesnt make it untrue.

hes not making excuses, hes just stating his theory based on observational data

Lmao. Sorry dude, you're off by a bit here...

1, the Owners and players aren't a bunch of money hungry fan hating basterds? Please... like the MLB's never had those before... every league has them... MLB's had shortened seasons a few times too bud... straight up STRIKES over the game... There's no Cap in baseball, it has the least parity of all the sports, but due to that, players make retarded amounts of cash, a lot of times way more, for about 1/3rd of the athleticism there is in other sports...

And... Game broadcasts for 3 hours...? You're talking about that and baseball in the same context? Really? Baseball games can be anywhere from boring 2 hour pitching duals to 5 hour extra inning snoozers... and... the longest baseball play is probably no longer than the average play in football, and theres about a million more of them due to how many pitches are thrown... Dont even try to make such a dumb argument...

Either way, Rugby kicks all of your asses in badasstitude, so shut the fuck up.

baseball players are amazing athletes and i respect them. That being said I hate baseball, too slow and boring to watch. Baseball is right near Nascar with the most boring sport to watch.

5 tool players are amazing athletes... a lot of other guys are just standing around all the time...

Theyre all talented, for sure... but man theres a lot of standing around.

Sorry I did not read the article and see that he has asked around to other players. But still its not an excuse for having a .250 difference in batting average. You do not go out and make excuses that you are hitting bad because of the color of your eyes. Man up and just admit that you may not be hitting as good this year and go do something about it.

It's funny cause you were probably one of those nonathletic kids that could never appreciate the skill it takes to be good at one.

Most sports take lots of skill to be good at, especially at a professional level. I like playing and watching sports. It's funny how people take sports seriously.

just going to point out that not very many of you would want to be a catcher. im leaving now because baseball vs other sports are rediculously stoopid.
