Another rail advice thread

I ski in wisconsin, and I am learning park skiing. I just started this season and can do some basic stuff and am looking to learn rails. From previous attempts, I usually dont have enough speed and my front tips fall foward and go off the rail, but when I do have enough speed I fall backwards. I think it's mostly a mental thing because when I try to remember all the stuff like learning forward, then overthink it and mess up. I know there are lots of rail threads, but I thought I would ask for advice and share my personal experience. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

You can approach the rail and pop with your skis on each side. Then you just need to focus on landing square

You can approach the rail from the side and practice using your lead foot to stop your momentum

This sounds more like an aim issue on the takeoff versus a speed issue. You don't want to jump much diagonally, especially on boxes and flat bars, because there is no good way of stopping your horizontal momentum. You can get away with it on tubes if you lean back.
