Another Global Warming Rant (a rather short one)...

ok the earth has gotten warmer b4, and also colder, so it getting warmer now is just another thing earth is doing mostly on its own, i agree that by doin all the crap we do today isnt making it any colder, but even if we didnt use technology like we are now n put shit in the air, earth would still be warming up

also another thing to think about...how do we know that it is really warming up, yes the temp is gettin higher, but we dont no what the avg temp is for the earth over its whole life, we could be way below the avg temp and now after the huge cooldown of the iceage, its going back up to where its supposed to be, we think its getting too hot because we dont know what it used to be like, like i said it could just be going back to the correct avg temp of earth b4 the iceage

Shut the fuck up you clown. You know about as much as a 5 year old about global warming. Just because you use big words does not mean you know jack shit about anything. I discredited the entire post when I read this amazing gem: "Oh yeah, the whole in the Ozone Layer......." I'm not going to get into the debate on global warming right now, but you my friend, are quite retarded.

also notice that the little ice age began to end at the start of the 1800's, and where still comming out of it now. humanity has to big of an opinion of itself, and many new journal reports have said that humans may only contribute to about 10% of global warming

You guys are all in DENIAL. I have studied weather for two years at university and specifically, Global Warming, and here is the real story:

Yes, It's true that the earth goes through warming and cooling cycles, but, this is the longest warming or "interglacial period" the earth has ever seen. Temperatures are still rising at a catastrophic rate, and will continue to do so, with an average mean of up to 6 degrees in the next 50 years. The difference between an ice age and now is an average temp change of 5 degrees, so this is a HUGE change. Now, you could chalk this up to a cycle of warming, but why not look at the facts. There is less ice now than at any other "interglacial" period ever, and we are talking a long time people. Carbon dioxide is proven to cause the earth to warm, thus the "greenhouse effect". We are using carbon at a faster rate than at any time in history. The carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere are 70 times higher than they have ever been, thus this is proof that there is warming and this is causing it. The earth has never been subjected to human intervention in the atmospheric gas levels, so no one knows for sure what is going to happen. There is what is called at "point of no return." This is a point where, theoretically, if the average mean temp raches this "point", we are doomed and there is no way to swing the warming back in the other direction due to less ice, which means less reflection of the sun's rays and more absobtion which leads to a warmer earth.

Plus, between 1958 and 1997 the polar ice caps (we are tlking permanant ice, not seasonal ice) thickness decreased by 40%. This is in a 39 year period. The natural "cycles" of the earth are about 500 years, not 39. Ice is a good indicator of the earth's climate, the best we have infact. It tells us about our current climate and past climate for thousands of years.

I went into studying this as a firm disbeliever of "Global Warming." I thought it was a big hoax and it was natural. BUt after studying it for 2 years, I know that this thinking is wrong. While there is an argument for whether this warming may be natural or not, both sides agree that there has been a HUGE warming trend since the industrial revolution and carbon dioxide is a huge problem. It is not a Hoax or a load of bull. I'm sorry for a long (2) replies, but you guys need to know that this is real, and we need to deal with it because if we dont the world is going to be a very different place.

Hmmm... looks like as CO2 levels rose, so did Temperatures... Fairly consistently throughout history as well.

Temperatures, and CO2 levels go hand in hand. As the CO2 levels rise, so do temps. And we are in a ridiculously high CO2 level era. Far higher than ever before. There is more CO2 production, and less plants to take it away.

As for the topic of record snowstorms, and record snowfall this year? Think about it this way...

The warmer the water is, the faster it evaporates into the atmosphere. Thus creating larger storms. Now if this storm happens to arrive at a location at the same time a cold front does, this will create a record snow. And temps, even out West, have actually been above average as well.

A big snowfall in NYC doesn't disprove global warming. if anything it gives more evidence to the fact that the earth is warming.

this is random, but i just donated 2 dollars yesterday to use wind energy at gore mountain. (not that it will reverse global warming)
