14530206:r00kie said:SEO is to try to be the top hit for a type of product, not literally stealing someone's branding for yourself and out bidding them on Google ads.

14530207:eheath said:Being at the top (buying an ad) is part of Search Engine Optimization as well, no point getting nit picky when you know I'm right.

14530265:eheath said:my point is that businesses using keywords from other brands is completely normal and not scummy.
14530270:r00kie said:Using another companies name that they have a right too is not the same as a keyword lol.
14530275:eheath said:you can 100% add a name of a company as a search term for your website, im guessing tall t productions doesn't spend as much on google, or depending on your search history/previously viewed pages is more significant.
there are tons of variables, everyone seems to have different results, virtika shows up under tall t productions when I search them on google.
the internet is sort of the wild west when it comes to search, you can do basically anything you want. i remember when I worked at NS we did a ton of shit to show up on different searches, it's a very common practice. SEO is fascinating really.

14530455:eheath said:whatever dude its potato - potato I never said I was an expert, but I have experienced a ton of search related discussions and practices, the point is this kind of stuff common practice and people get sensitive about their favorite ski brands and lose all sense of reality.
14530464:J_Steez said:yea this ad placement is definitely something someone would do so non-chalant in a business setting. definitely a bit scummy regardless.
