Another all mountain ski thread

Hey all,

In the end of november im going skiing on my very first full season. Im going to Val D'isere so some powder is expected.

I like going off piste/skiing trees when the snow is right, but i also enjoy a good carve. I don't do much park skiing, but i enjoy the "playfulness" of twin tips. Im 186 cm (6'1 i think?) and around 70 kg (155 lbs).

Can you suggest any skis (lenghts and widths also) that would enable me to properly ski some powder, while still not having old ladies flying past me on the piste. I've looked at the ARV 96 and some Black Crows and Rossignols, but haven't done too much research yet.

Thank you :)

Black crows camox is perfect for what you described. They are poppy and playful and still hold a wicked edge.

Length wise you could look at either the 181/186. Based on what you have said I would go the longer. Better in powder and on groomers. If you want them to be more nimble in the trees go shorter

If you don’t ski any park I would mount pretty close to the rec line. It’s pretty far back so there is the option to push a little forward if you are used to skiing more symmetrical skis or you want some more park performance

Might want to check out the Atris as well if powder/off-piste is a priority. They don't hold a "wicked edge" on groomers but are totally adequate on hardpack and ice. 189cm absolutely if you're going that route. I rode the 184 and it was pretty nimble, I'm 170cm and 63kg.

Yeah agreed. 173cm/62kg and the 184 atris was wicked. They hold the best edge out of any ski in their category that I’ve skiied

Thank you for the reply! The camox looks kind of perfect indeed.

Didn't actually know that going with skis taller than yourself would be viable.
