No one likes them and the latest news of them picketing the funerals of the victims of the New Boston Massacre leads me to believe that Anonymous (who have already made promises (not threats) to WBC) and everyone will ultimately skullfuck the shit out Fred Phelps and the rest of his mindless followers with diamond batons mounted with skulls and horns until nothing remains but the pulverized fragments and dust that was once their heads.
 
Can we not infringe upon peoples rights? They were granted the right to do this by the supreme court (snyder v. phelps) "speech on a public sidewalk, about a public issue, cannot be liable for a tort of emotional distress, even if the speech is found to be "outrageous."

So lets stop threatening people and how about we ignore them and they will probably end up going away. it would mean the world to the WBC to see an idiot like you try to pull some shit and get thrown in jail for a long time.

We MUST defend people like this because if we dont who is to day that our opinion isnt valid? Objectively nothing about what they are doing is right or wrong in the eyes of the law. I defend them because I defend my rights and the rights of everyone.
 
Cool how bout this for a law then instead of having them get arrested. Imagine grieving over your 8 year old son's body who has just been the victim of a terrorist attack. Now imagine someone coming over to his corpse and yelling at him "THIS IS FOR GIVING GAY PEOPLE RIGHTS!" Fine don't arrest him. But make it legal to incite brutal mob justice on anyone who desecrates a corpse verbally or physically at their funeral in front of their families .
 
I'm not siding one way or the other, but I'm just going to throw out that if any city was to be avoided by the WBC, it would probably be Boston.
 
It is terrible and I have no respect for the WBC's views or actions at all, and i fine them horrendous but that doesn't mean we can hurt them for their religious view or personal views. I I am sorry but this issue was already decided by the supreme court.

on a personal note, i really struggle whenever shit like this happens in the US. i have more and more trouble caring, empathizing or being surprised. yes, i know its terrible, absolutely wrong of me - this stuff is a tragedy. but the way many americans react to this kind of thing just doesnt sit well with me.
 
Buuuuut why should we support the right of those who, once in power, would not do the same for us? I mean I know we have to by law, but the logic of it seems pretty messed up if you look at it In that way
 
How would you react to a terrorist attack in your backyard? Would you not be angry/emotional? You wouldn't want to seek justice? You wouldn't praise the heroes that acted so selflessly? You wouldn't morn the loss of 3 lives, multiple amputees and the death including an 8 year old boy?

i did not say any of that, you are putting words in my mouth. i was intentionally vague because i dont feel like getting into it with people here. but if you use your noodle for two seconds just maybe you'll understand what i was getting at.

ive already paid my respect to the victims and heroes and victims of this event in my personal life, if it makes you feel any better i can do it here as well.

I understand that, but who gives a fuck what rights you have or dont have if they arn't being used for their original purpose? I highly doubt our founding fathers wrote the constitution with the WBC's free speach in mind... in fact Im sure they are all turning in their graves at the thought of their country not doing something about the WBC's bullshit.

Yes they can talk about whatever they please, that gives them no right to go to funeral's for the victims of the bombings. No where in the Constitution is there a statement about going to another person's funeral and saying, "Oh i'm happy they died, they deserved it" If they really do protest the funerals for the bombing victims they may be in for a rude awakening, because Boston folk really aren't the gentle, quiet types. If the WBC thinks they can go harass the mourners at the funeral without being pummeled to a pulp then they are seriously misjudging the city.

 
I get that the Supreme Court gave them that right, which makes perfect sense, but I also feel like by picketing people's funerals they are kind of infringing on that families rights. All I can say is that if I was a police man I would have no problem turning my back if someone wanted to throw a punch at those people

If the westboro baptist church was Muslim or any other religion other than Christian the liberals would have their backs turned, and anyone who criticized them would be a racist who does not support freedom of religion.
 
Using terms like "liberals" to classify people with a certain belief that everyone should be treated equally regardless of their religion and what OTHER people do in the name of that religion, really shows your lack of intelligence. I've found out that the ones that lack critical thinking skills or the ability to carry on intelligent conversation usually jump to conclusions about senseless things like the political party that someone MAY belong to.

I think that the WBC will eventually become labeled as a hate group similar to the KKK and will be shut down by the Feds. Just my opinion.

People in this thread are so dumb. WBC is not doing anything that deserves punishment. Whether it's morally correct is up to your discretion, but they're doing nothing wrong. If no one gave them the time of day they would go away.
