About the mad cow video that I mentioned earlier I wasn't accusing anyone of saying anything about mad cow disease, I was using the video as an example of how the media will use anything factual or not to raise hype about something.
Another thing about the comment about not eating beef because of the resources that they use, one point you need to understand is that the majority of cattle are raised on marginal land which isn't suitable to grain production. So actually when you think about it raising cattle isn't wasting resources, it's making use of resources that would have gone to waste otherwise. Livestock manure is also one of the best fertilizers available for the land and without livestock the amount of productive land would be decreasing even quicker than it currently is. Every year there are thousands of acres of land that lose productivity and are either turned into pasture for cattle or is being restored by using the nutrient rich manure or being planted to forages such as alfalfa which can grow in poorer soils. The alfalfa will over time improve the quality of the land and the no. 1 demand for alfalfa is for cattle feed.
