Android Stagefright bug

Someone just uncovered that one can attach malware to video messages and after being sent to an Android phone if the video is processed with Google's Stagefright software (which it does for Android 2.2 and later) the malware will be run and the person who sent the message can have control of the phone including being able to access and delete data and access the camera and such.

Haha, nothing to do with the phone OS, my dad's been calling me ANDR01D as long as I can remember
 
Why write stories about it if the patches havent been issued yet? Im not that tech savy but didnt they just give a bunch of geeks a new way to hack peoples phones by going public with this?

I was more referring to the guys that found this. If they dont tell the media there is no story to write
