The reason certain groups of "kids" are blind to other groups of "kids" is because they are unwilling to open and recieve other's viewpoints. They are unwilling to open their eyes and accept change. Just as you, too, have done in claiming that there is one way to ski and one way to progress. You're assuming that there is an "end" to the progession of skiing. In reality, there isn't. There is no telling what will happen next. Maybe someone will decide to grab their ski, maybe someone will hunch over and develop a progressive style, or maybe someone will forget their poles, or ride shorter wider skis, or slide one-footed. All of these things have happened and will continue to happen in different and interesting ways for as long as people have a passion for "skiing."

Your disdain for one avenue in the current progression of skiing is nothing more than appalling. To assert that there is one, and only one, way to ski runs counter to the reason freeskiing was created in the first place.

The trend of the moment whether it's gorilla steeze or one-footed rail slides or big-mountain or park - is all some form of skiing. Isn't it?

Gagnier is a great park skier, Bode is great racer, you're a great park skier/backcountry jibber, Pep is...well pep is just sick at everything, Hugo is a great Big Mtn. skier, etc...

You're contempt prior to your investigation of your recent rant, shows a lack of love for a fragile sport and burgeoning community that is freeskiing...

I totally agree. I'm not a huge fan of 1footers but I respect the fact that they're damn hard. It's all skiing and everyone can have their own syle.
 
I agree and ccrewsoldier has no clue what he is talking about most of the time. I do agree with him about 1 footers being gay though.
 
Personaly I like the one footer, its something extra, you know more variation, sure it coming from rollerblading, but dont you think the whole sliding rails came from rollerblading?
 
yeah... if CCREWSOLDIER is who they told me they are, then i'm blown away by their post. let's just say i can understand why they'd be bitter with Gagnier...
 
I sure as hell wouldn't be ashamed if i could do on skis, what some kids are doin on rollerblades. Have you seen the Yasutoko brothers ride a vert ramp. If i could do a double viking flip like 15 feet out, on skis, i'd be stoked. And all these switch ups kids are doin these days? i bet if you watch a rollerblade movie you'll see the exact same thing. Bitching about it isn't gonna change it. if you don't like it, don't do it.
 
I dont ever plan on doing 1 footers but I try not to hate on people who do them cause allthough they're the ugliest thing ever they're super hard
 
remember when double grabs were gay (maybe not, but i do)? i see the same thing happening with one-footers. the CAN look steezy and they are definitely tech.
 
I think one footers are pretty gay. they dont look good thats the point of our sport isnt it. but if u wanna have that style thats fine too ur pref.
 
just throwin this out there, you can throw it back if you want...

a while back, before TBC came out, CCREW messaged me and told me he was Tanner. i didn't believe him and he said something about his upcoming segment in TBC and gave some specifics (most of what he mentioned was about the dialogue before the skiing) a couple weeks before the movie even came out. take that as you want, but i'm leaving the option of it actually being Tanner open. who knows...
 
i tried a 1-footer, it wasnt that hard really, just throws you off ballance, and it was my first try, i still made the rail. i still hate them and they are gay as fuck. i wanted to kill myself after doing it.
 
tanner is the man, dont ever talk shit about him. 1 footers are definialty very gay too
 
just do whatever the hell you want, im not gonna give a kid shit if he is doing one footed slides. what is gay is how people agrue over what trick is cool, who gives a shit as long as it looks good.

why the hell can't he voice his opinion on things? if he made a post claiming that hucked, penciled out spins with no grabs were gay, and that double front flips were the gayest trick ever, you'd all fuckin agree.

is a triple twister spread disaster on hard? maybe. but is that where you want skiing to go? fuck no. get a clue. tanner and anyone else can talk smack on one footers the same way anyone else talks shit on the tricks the schrab brothers do.
 
in 30 years skiing wont be the most fun way to ride snow... let alone will you want to even ride snow with jetpacks and hovercrafts... the new thing will be doing tricks with hover floating skis and gapping mountain to mountain.

thats where its going and thats where skiing needs to be.

^ Hell ya, but likely not anytime soon. Kinda reminds me of how in the 50's people thought everyone would be driving around in flying cars and have robot maids to do all thier work.
 
Personally I don't like one footers, but I have a right to my opinion, and I respect the people who can do a good one, but if nobody comes up with new stuff, the sport is going nowhere fast.

what difference does it make if it's tanner or not, he's still a person who has his own opinions. no one said you had to like him.

and besides, tanners name would be more like CCREWGENERAL
 
^ newb?? I've been a member two years longer than you, was at camp of champs in '99, and have probably been skiing longer than you've been alive. Having a posting addiction isn't very important to me...I just felt that this was an important issue and felt like saying something.

whether you like 1 one footers or not, hating on them brings the sport down. you cant be taken seriously when even inside your own sport everyone is fighting and bitching, especially about retarded shit like what tricks are actually 'cool' or not. go fucking ski.
 
I think that this whole subject is completly retareded. Reading people argure over this topic kills me. Its like hearing kids talking about whose dad can beat the other dad up. When they're never going to fight anyhow. Who really cares if it is one ski, two skis or 18 skis? Its just a different trick. Whats next, what grabs are accaptable? Does anyone want this sport to become a bunch of kids all doing the same thing; completly taking the individualism out of an individals sport. That would be crap. Thats all I got.
