An article about chairlift snacks

I can second this, pop tarts need more credit than they get here.

Pop tarts are delicious, especially those blue and purple ones. They should make bite sized pop tarts though. I've never brought pop tarts skiing but I imagine they would crumble if you fell on them.

I think one of the best chairlift snacks is Shreddies in a ziplock bag. Just because of the name

I go through two boxes of quaker oatmeal raison granola bars, these things are loaded with sugar

So when I was still in elementary school, I was lucky enough to live in Vermont. One day, it was approx -1k degrees, I was sitting on a chairlift in Bolton Valley with my dad and a family friend. This was one of the few true father son (plus friend) moments I have ever had with my dad. Our family friend pulled out a few Twix. They were all chewy because of the cold and it was, hands down, the best snack I have ever had in my whole life.

That said: you can all f.ck off with your weird snack ideas. Twix is and will always be the best chairlift snack!

best food on a lift is a egg and cheese sandwich with sausage. as for snacks, i think i will half to go with salted peanuts

Cliff Bars are great and I also bring Ginger Candy.

Or you can grab some french fries from the lodge and snack on those the whole way up. The lifties wont think your weird and everyone will think your a pro because you dont have time to sit around a table like a normal person but you have to eat on a chairlift.

Having stash spot(s) on mountain is key...Nothing like being secure in the knowledge you can sustain yourself if you become peckish on a tough traverse, without having to carry heavy snacks.

My favourite things to stash: Jerky, sardines/kippers, can of soup, crackers, chocolate, flask, beers, matches & kindling, shovel for building snowfort/jibs

What are everyone's techniques for preventing wildlife from raiding your snack stash?

Snack stashing is next level snacking. I'm embarrassed to say I've never done it but I'm thinking the best way to hide food from animals would be to put it in one of those smelly proof ziplock bags. It's either that or masking the smell with bear shit.

Hard boiled egg or two. It's basically a full meal and is dirt cheap I just make them at home the night before and then put them in my pocket and eat them on the first lift up.

I've tried a lot, here's my best:

1. Get gnarly instant ramen.

2. Break it inside the bag.

3. Open one side, pour the seasoning in and mix.

4. Ball hard.

Great if you're on a budget.

Clif Bars, Icebreakers sour, chips, and lemon heads. Also get a can of cola and leave it in your pack the whole day, if cold enough should become a slushie.
