American trying to move to BC

Hello neighbors to the North,

I am trying to move to a BC resort for the winter of 2014-2015. I am planning ahead, because I most likely need a job to pay for this year off. I am finding it is really hard to get a work permit. I'm really down to work anywhere. I can always stay in the States, but I would rather make BC (Whistler, Big White, Revelstoke, Sun Peaks, etc..) happen. Through Canadian websites and stuff it sounds like I need to be an engineer or doctor or something to get a work visa. I have a college degree and some work experience, but I'm no doc. Anyone have advice or experience with this? I'm not Australian or British so I can't do the commonwealth visa.

Anyone who responds to this thread, this one is for you. http://mangotreeillustration.files.wordpress.com/2012/07/thankyousloth.jpg

Its very hard for most Americans to get a work permit in Canada unless you have studied here for college. If skiing is your goal then this wont be for you, but if you were willing to work in northern bc on the rigs, mines or labouring you could get a sponsor im sure. But in whistler/ vancouver, without a very skilled degree you'd be shit out of luck

So it's pretty much impossible unless you study there?

I'm a filmer/photographer trying to move to Canada once I graduate. Hoping to get a place in BC and ski and work. Not necessarily filming, just any sort of work I can find.

Any ideas? Is this doable?

You're best to talk to someone more official NS regionals, but if you were to find a production company that could sponsor your visa, that would seem the most logical to me.
