Am I an asshole for not going to my step families Xmas party?

My mums trying to guilt trip me into going saying “oh cmon you’re never there” But I have no vested interest in any of my step family at all.... sure they’re nice and all, but it’s the holidays and I’d rather not go - I’m just going to end up having awkward conversations and attempting to find a moment to leave without having to say good bye.

This year more than others it's ok to say no thanks to a party or any kind of social gathering.

Any other year and I'd say suck it up, go get you eat and/or your drank on and party for the baby jesus.

flatten the curve and stay home by yourself OP

how does Santa’s sleigh even work if it is summer down under? does he just deliver your presents around the end of June or what?
 
Just say you got a scratchy throat or something and say you don't want to risk spreading the virus to the ones I love etc. You'll weasel out and get anti nagging rights for the future.
 
I couldn’t imagine having a stepdad. Like does the guy pretend to be your father, but all he cares about is fucking your mum? Man if I had a step dad I’d knock that fucker dead out.
