sometimes we have to laugh at our battles right? i'd like to..

well my grandma who i love so much has alzheimer's and its gotten to the point i can't stand her.

what she is donig to my family is horrible (and im not really blaming her, i know its the disease)

she calls all the time yelling at us for various things... and if we don't pick up she calls (and leaves a message each time) untill we do... she thinks we stole her car.. and calls my dad a theif... she yells and yells ... doesn't take her medicine that would help her so much (and lies that she did)

it hurts my dad so much i can't stand it... and this is only a little tiny bit of what she does.. its so horrible i could never understand it before...

but enough about me... does anyone else have experiance with alzheimer's?

any stories... of things people have done?

anything funny? cuz you have to admit some of the things it makes people do you have to laugh at...

on the other side... anything that can help deal with it?

any responses would be so great

meg its def a fucked up disease, its comical, but nevertheless really messed up... just good luck to u and your family getting trough it

my friends grandma had it real bad and when her husband had a heart attack he had to call an abulance and everything for himself and he went to the hospital and the grandma didnt and then the next day called the police and said a black man kidnapped her husband.

 
my grandma's got it, my dad's gonna get it, i can just see it comin on, life sucks... what can ya do.

some chinese dude with alzheimers went missing in our area. it was during the winter. my dad and my dog found him dead in the ravine in a fetal position days later when he was reported missing.

we usually walk the dog in the ravine since a huge one runs through our neighborhood, so my dad said lets go find this dude and never thought they actually would.

yea thats my storey about alzheimers.

 
my great grandfather has it....he completley forgot who i was one time...and now he walks around at 1 in the morning asking when the plane to san fransisco is leaving...its pretty creepy when i think abou it

My Grandmother had it, she was convinced that her daughter who was takeing care of her was actually tring to kill her and take all of her things. She would call my dad and tell him that his sister was ploting against her. it wasnt all that funny. Its a horrible deisease.

some old lady with it ended up dead behind an appliance store. And once i was in a retirement home chillin' with some guy who thought it was still WWII.

My grandmother had it and it was brutal, it was so incredibly hard to watch it all slip away so fast. I'd go to visit her with my mom and she never even knew who we were, she seemed to have some idea that my mom was someone who she loved but like every two minutes she would suddenly glare at me and snap "who are you?" I'll never forget that. She was once an incredibly caring and loving person and Alzheimers slowly but surely robbed her of everything she had. Donate money to Alzheimers charities people, with any luck we can end this.

my grand aunt has it...it's quite funny listning to her...like..every 2 minutes she asks my name, and she hides things and can't find them 10 minutes later..she also thinks that her sister wants to steal everything from her room.

Since she doesn't know anymore who i am i'm not visiting her regularly...but if i see her, she always tells funny story, and if she doesn't know your name, she uses phrases like 'ah, small world!' or 'don't we just know us from paris' or things like that. creepy

yea my grandma has it, it got bad enough that we had to more er to a senior living center cus she couldnt leave on her own. she got pretty pissed at us for that and for taking her car but know she dosnt even know who we are. my dad could say to her " im your son, peter" and she would have no idea who he was.

yeahg, my g-mas gotten worse since then.. shes ok with recognizing people still, although sometimes she calls me by her moms name.. but shes really confused about everything. she called us yeaterday morning around 5 saying someone was in her house walking around upstairs ... she also got mad at her mom whos been dead 30 years for putting junk in a room thats been messy for my dads whole life.. she said she was going to leave me grandpa (also dead... about 10 years) becasue he hadn't been home for over a week she thought. she still thinks my dads been stealing from her... i've learnt i have to distance myself from her without avoiding her so i can remember how she used to be
