A group of 8-10 us are looking to head out next March. Pros? Cons?

We're looking to ski the resort, hopefully some cat time and probably some sledding.

Any solid feedback is appreciated. I can probably dig up some swag to send your way if it's helpful.

Thanks,

Amanda

Alyeska is a really great resort, it has varying terrain from very steep on head wall and the north face to the countless natural features and natural kicker's off of chair 6, they usually have a pretty decent park if all their resources aren't taken up by building a stupid super pipe. Alyeska really is hit or miss though about 4 or 5 years ago they had a snowfall of 900 inches, the highest in the US, but fast forward to last year and they still could only open a few parts of the mountain in March for lack of snow. If you're cat skiing and sledding I'd think you'll be able to find good skiing no matter what though. Middle of March is their busiest time of year with tons of families going skiing over spring break, so the resort will have crazy lift lines.

check out max's traverse if it is open. if there are that many of you, i would suggest renting a cabin for your duration instead of getting hotel rooms. that is usually what my friends do when we head down in a big group. look into chugach powder guides for heli/cat info. but even if you just have a rental car and some touring gear, there is a lot of a ton of bc access near girdwood.

Where will you be staying? Girdwood? Rent a cabin or house unless $ isn't an issue but hotel is there right at bottom of the mountain. The only cat skiing op I know of is through Chugach Powder guides. They have an office/info booth in the bottom of the hotel. They obviously offer heli skiing as well but there's also a lot of other options if going somewhere else is an option or plan. Cheers have fun AK IS RAD! I'll be skiing the resort all of march and for sure spring break. (March 1st-10th)

I habe a love hate relationship with alyeska. I like to ski pa r k, but they make a super pipe no one uses and dosent pay attention to the actual park. Also it is hit and miss. Alyeska is amazing on a good day, terrible on a bad day. Also, be prepared for insanely flat light. Like to the point of where you cant see where a bump or mogul is. But overall mm I r s a lot of fun and I reccomend it.
