Alternatives to waxing without an iron?

Hey NSers, quick question. What are some ways to wax your skis without an iron? Obviously I'm not expecting it to be as great as an iron, but I was hoping for something better/more affective than rub on.

Thanks! I tried to search bar/google things but didn't find much so sorry if this is a repost :)

I once read something about people rubbing the wax against a cork and eventually it would get hot enough to melt... not sure if it was an actual thing tho.

Rub on wax sucks, if you cant afford a real iron (like $30 for a cheap KUU one) go to a thrift store and buy an old clothing iron, just make sure the wax doesn't start to smoke and you should be fine.

the reason google didnt help is because what you want isnt out there...lots of types of rub-ons, if you wanna do it couple times a day.....

go get a $6 clothes iron (dont push it into your base just glide it along), and it will do you great if you're not worried about MINOR surface blemishes, or 100ths of a second

the cork idea actually worksrub the bar on the skis without heating it, i usualy o over the ski about 5 times then rub the cork on the bottom for a while and it allows the ski to absorb the wax and scrapes of the excess. i do it avery day after i get back from the mountain so its ready in the morning

Dishwashing soap in the spring works wonders on that greasy snow gun snow. Did this at my home resort the last few days of their season.

that is LITERALLY rub on wax...even if you are using melt wax that is the same process. most rub ons come with a shitty cork...if you do it every day it sounds about as effective too..

why not save the time and buy a cheap iron? i promise its better.

GREAT iron for waxing. My dad has been using the original version of that iron since he was a kid, and it's still going strong today.

dont leave a detergent soap on your base for any length of time, its fine to clean off pollen and dirt, but it will dry out your bases and close the pores in your base
