Altabird pass question

Haven't skied Utah since before the joint pass was offered. I can purchase the two mountains individually with student discounts for roughly 500 dollars less than the joint pass. As long as I keep both passes on me, an I able to still go between the two resorts or do I NEED the joint pass for that?
 
Pretty sure as long as you have both passes, you're good. I know thats a loophole for college students and im sure they dont care if its joint or not, the joint pass is really only a deal for adults.
 
No you don't need the joint pass. I have skied both resorts with separate passes for the last 5 years or so. Don't waste the money on the joint pass.
