so i just have a couple questions for those who ski at alta/snowbird or have gone there. im leaving friday morning from albany NY and arrive around noon at utah. im skiing at alta for the frist day which is friday and then im skiing at snowbird for 3 or 4 days. some questions that i have are how there park/pipe/jumps are and my main question is how there snow is at this time of year and how he conditions will be like for this coming up weekend. another question that i have is how the weather and atmosphere is. my last question is how much powder they have in their backcountry at this time.

thanks for the help

Dude the park at snowbird is sooo sick right now...they have one huge step up that is at least 100 ft, and their superpipe is sooo sick...22 ft walls. There is no snow in the backcountry anymore, someone blew up chad's gap and made all of the surrounding snow melt. The conditions at Snowbird next week will be dirt and pond skims...it would be better to just stay home, it hasn't snowed here forever. snowbird.com bitch check the conditions.

I ski alta. I will be at the bird next week once Alta and PC close. From what I hear their park and pipe is a joke, but I guess rails are better than nothing, right?

well, it will be warming up once you get here, but yesterday was a pow day and it is snowing today

its gonna be awwwwwwwwwesome snow this week, until the weekend when it warms up and turns to poopie.

we have been gettin alot of snow latily... before it snowed the pipe was good (not as big, wide or long as pcmr but still fun) not that great of a park, the BC gates at the bird have been closed the past few days but the other bc terrain outside the bird has been dope...

LOLz park...

As for snow, starting friday is suppose to be mostly sunny until like tuesday which means tshirt skiing and slushy snow. As for "BC" there will be "powder".

i skied both about 2 weeks ago and snowbird had 2 samll jumps and a few rails. the pipe is nice for those who want to learn how to ski the pipe but other than thats theres not much to it.

ok well im in altaa right now and lemmie say, its retarded. They are callin for 10" tonight so it will be super sick thursday and friday. And there is still plenty of pow to go around so its realll sick here

with all the new snow and the warming temps that we expect this weekend either get a beacon shovel and probe and KNOW what you are doing, or stay out of the BC, its how people get killed. The avy danger is going to be pretty high.

I was at snowbird last week and the park was shit, and so was the snow. Go to ParkCity soooo much better, i was there also last week, and i was like in heaven. its only like 20 minutes away form salt lake city if you are staying there.

its been snowing up here all day, about 2:30 pm it started snowing about 2 inches an hour. . unfortunately with temperatures expected to be in the 50s this weekend at 10000 feet there wont be much left of the backcountry for powder, and if you go out there will probably be a wet slides so stay out of the gullies in grizzly no matter how sweet the jump is unless you want your limbs torn from your body then be burried by moving cement.

alta and snowbird don't really have parks anymore, and conditions will probably be dust on crust.  go to PC.

alta doesn't have a park and i wouldn't even call snowbirds little rail section with 2 five ft. jumps a park. although the rails are fun to mess around they should have some fun stuff around most of the mountain

There won't be a park but Utah is getting loads of snow still, so you can atleast slayyy natural features, which is by far the best thing to do anyway.

im off to alta/snowbird on friday to check out more of the bigmountain scene. does the snow get crushed when it gets sunny and if so is there any bowls or gnarly terrain that will still be descent skiing after a few days of sun?

you can usualy find some killer staches at Alta even a few days after a storm.. you just got to ski around to find where the conditions are good.

so respectively if i skied Alta or snowbird on Saturday and it was already mid 50's how fucked would i be for big mountain and chargin and what not, the snow doesn't have to be great just good enough

you wold probably be okay. if you mean if its 50 the day before then the morning will be icy and suck, but as it gets later in the day the snow will soften up

its all about the time of the day.. where there is shade in the moring go there in the afternoon, when there is sun in the afternoon, go to the shade....
