Alta....rails

wow, who cares,, they are just trying to be modern and keep up with trends, fuckin a, just be happy theres no snowboarders, and even then, who cares, goddamnit im so mad right now and i dont even know wht! im gonna kill myself

you all should be glad they put 'em in...i sure am. they take up no space and draw a bunch of people, leaving more untracked for real skiers (not that i dont like jibbing, but lets be honest, its Alta)

 
Hey denali I am sorry that you didn't like the film. that is a shame. Honestley you are the first to say that you didn't like it. I understand where you are coming from. You love alta for what it is, and that is great. I too like alta, except for the hiking cause I'm lazy, but who cares. you don't have to purchase our films that is your option. if you would rather buy a tgr film or a matchstick film, or a warren miller film if you prefer. However Alta is building a park and there isn't much anybody can do about it at this point, and I personaly like the idea. It will be so much more fun to ski at Alta now. They already have the sickest terrain, and the best snow, now they have what they were missing, at least in my opinion.

And what is wrong with ''Jib Monkeys'' as you call them, coming to Alta. do you have a problem with skiing growing??? now that these ''Jib Monkeys'' are skiing a real mountain they will get better at actual skiing. that is the progression, isn't it? all these kids in the midwest and ice coast who only ski park will now come to Alta for spring break, and they will see that there is so much more to skiing so they will start to ski the big lines. then they will start to hit the natural hits that Alta has to offer. then they will do tricks off of these hits and continue to ski the face all the way to the park where they will throw down even harder, killen all the jumps and rails. and where will you be when the rep from K2 who happened to see this kid charge the entire mountain, hooks that kid up with a sponsorship? Probly chillen with your boys having a good day skiing some lines avoiding the park. well I guess that is how you want it though, huh????

What exactly is alta's 'vibe' anyhow? i can see how the all skiier thing is chill, cause i ski mad river all the time...but a few rails and/or a park wont wreck the mountain.. and why the hell are you on this site if u dont like newschool?

more things on the mountain = more lines. get some creativity and stop whining man.

 
personally, i would have them not have rails if i could...i was originally under the impression that they were just building jumps. from a business standpoint, i understand why they are doing all this. also, its on the sunnyside lift...anyone who rips will not give a fuck about losing this lift

....and anyone who is just a 'jib monkey', wouldn't buy a pass to alta, because alta's park won't compare to parkcity's or brighton's. and if they are only jib monkeys, they won't be where all the rippers are. maybe its a big deal in principle, but in reality i don't think it will make much of a difference.

i would not have a problem with the jib monkeys coming to alta to rip big mtn, but offtrail dude you have a point that it will be off of sunnyside and it shouldnt matter, even tho it may be a little more difficult to teach my students how to ski there. and my opinion is that you are based in utah so why not more big mtn and backcountry booters with little park and rails?

As for the Alta rail thing, I would like the Idea of no rails if the jumps were big, or what they should do is throughout the mtn put jumps and rope them and the landings off. say it is a terrain park feature. then there would be pow landings, and when they got totaly tracked groom out the landings. that would be the sickest thing that alta could do.

oh and when it is fesable I would like to not have any park and only bc booters and urban stuff. oh and i guess some big ass jumps at resorts that aren't for the general public those are always cool.
