Alpine Meadows Confusion

hi guys i'm looking to take a trip to alpine meadows... but is it mountainous or really flat? the name is really confusing me!!

alpine has some sweet steeps and is most definitely not flat, the snow conditions are really bad and it is raining in northlake right now, but alpine usually has some gnarly steeps.

from the last storm i think kirkwood got the most snow and they too have some of the best steeps in CA
