Alpha 2 Debate

Alright, so I'm planning on getting either the Alpha 1's or Alpha 2's sometime soon, but I found a real deal on a demo pair of Alpha 2s at a ski shop. They are a bit beat up, and have pretty heavy rental bindings mounted on em. The good thing is that I can probably get them for 20% off the usual ($550) including the rental bindings. My parents are all for buying these ones since its a great deal, but I'm still undecided seeing that they are in alright condition, and I don't really like the bindings. So, should I buy the used pair, or splurge the extra couple hundred bucks for a brand new pair with bindings of my choice?

Can you wait a few more weeks? Pretty soon there will be spring sales on a lot of skis both in the shops and online. That way you might be able to get them new and cheap. Also if you tell proctorjones.com that you are an NSer they give you 10 percent off and they have the Alpha 2s.

Wow it seems like every time i ask a question your always the one to answer it with a straight forward response. Thanks. I would give you more karma but your already at 10/10. So next year the Halo will be stiffer than the alpha 2? Is there anything new about the Halo or is it just a new name?

halo's are alpha 2's. they just renamed them to eliminate confusion i heard....which apparently isn't helping at all

well back to the OP, i would definitely wait. and not get gay rental bindings because they suck. i used some and good bindings are so much better

Definity wait to get bindings of your choice. Demo bindings are not meant for park. I was demoing skis this last week and I snapped the brake off once and then ripped the heel piece out of the sliding track on another landing. Both were landing switch on bigger jumps and either im a failure at landing or demo bindings are not designed to take that force. My 2 cents
