Almost tore my ACL last spring

Soo as u can tell, I almost managed to tore my ACL from my right knee. I fucked up a cork 3, landed backseat and my skis got caught in the slush, I fell to the left while spinning to the right with my leg in a 90 degree-ish angle still stuck in the snow. Only then did my bindings release and I just slid down to the bottom of the landing. Got up, couldn't really put any weight on the leg, thought "just a lil crash, I think im alright" and skied the rest of the day (1-2 hours). My dad drove me home, which is an hour away, and when I got there my knee was already so swollen and I couldn't really walk. 6 days after the crash I went to see a doc and he said something like "its prolly nothing, come back later if needed." He didn't even fucking let me tell the story and how it bent etc... He kept talking over me whenever I tried to tell the details. I was legit pissed and still am.

2 months passed, went to see another doc and that time there were 2 different docs that took a look at my knee (the other one was new). They said my ACL just overstretched (Idk the right words for injuries since English isn't my native language). and I'm most likely gonna be good. They gave me exercises to do but they didn't do shit. I got sent to physiotherapy and went there 2 months later, last month. (I was too busy at summer). Finally feeling like it's getting better and I'm starting to see hope, although my knee still feels pretty bad after running or doing 1v1's/2v2's/u name it in basketball. It really blows if I wont be able to ski the same way as I used to. Just got my license this year and took the chance to move to my own crib which is 30 minutes closer to the resort! "Luckily" the slopes here open in like 3 months so I still have time to get my knee strong.

Just wanted to share this here. Don't fuck up your cork 3s aighht

"Back in my day I was the best skier in my area. Probably could've gone pro if I wanted to if it weren't for this bum knee!"

I am considering never going to the doctor for an injury. They always say one of two things. You need surgery or you need PT. It is usually painfully obvious if you blew a tendon and need surgery. Otherwise you just paid a doctor bill for a list of stretches.

The "gatekeeper" or your primary physicians visit is pretty cheap. I went to a foot specialist afterwards and I got the "you don't need surgery just got to PT" talk.

Yea it be like that. What happened to you exactly and did PT help?

Im not about to write out my entire history of injuries. Bottom line was that I did not need surgery. So yeah while I was in college I went to PT on campus for free once a week. It was actually very helpful. I got the low-down. This is where I am super tight, these muscles are stronger than those, imbalance here etc. Every two weeks I would get a new set that would progress and strengthen different areas. The thing is that they are still just giving you a list of stretches. Yeah its what you need right now to help recover from your injuries, but if you stretch every fucking day you don't need "specialized" stretches.

I see, I see. It's just that I've never experienced something like this before. My knee's been bothering me since I fell, April 1st but only when I actually do sports. Gotta see how skiing is when the slopes open.

I've honestly never been this afraid (excluding mental crisis ex. Losing a loved one). I just can't see myself not skiing again.
