All you kids who had knee surgery this winter

I had to have a second surgery about a month ago to get rid of scar tissue. It put me behind for getting my range of motion back 2.5 months. but right now my knee feels almost normal. My regular ROM is -2 degrees to 165 ish degrees, my knee i fucked up is 3 degrees to 145 ish right now. It feels strong and healed. It still pops and shit every once in a while but everyone has told me that's just stuff that will work itself back into place eventually.
i'm trying to ride my bike as much as I can, still working on ROM and still doing strengthening exercises. Working on your balance is important, and make sure you strengthen all the muscles in your leg. Women naturally develop muscle differently in their legs, more on the outsides than all at the same rate, which leaves you more vulnerable to knee injury.
Once I have all my ROM back I'm going to get into the gym with specific strengthening exercises to work muscle that stabilizes my knees. Talk to a trainer or PT specialist about what you can do if you are at that point.

just got the OK from the doc two days ago. i have to practice for 2 weeks then i am ok to go and start playing in soccer games, and back to 100%. but my knee does not feel 100%, but i am still slowly working at it. it has been 4 months since i had my ACL surgery.

runnin is one of the worst things you can do after knee surgeries i've been told biking and swimming are good tho..pcl's are raw!

just had acl surgery late july. feeling great. already doing all normal activities. just trying to do every day sterngething activities like walking and swimming. most pt stuff is just exagerated versions of what you do in daily life.

ok i agree 100% with vanular. i had a full acl replacement in june of last year it took a solid 4 months of Pt then i was allowed to start training on my own in a brace. i was told i could start running lightly on a flat level surface but was told to take it very easy. I was not allowed to play football by the doc due to the fact that the cutting and force from playing would result in definate injury and the fact the field is not always level just multiplies those risks. I suggest you wait untill the 6mth mark before u start playing soccer. It kinda sounds like your doctor is setting u up for failure. but if u only had a small tear and they repaired it could be a different story. From my experiance i suggest you wait. you dont want to screw up you knee for ski season along with having to go through the pain and suffering. Thas just my outlook on the whole situation.

wait for that 6mnth mark and then get back into football, before then stick to the bike, light running and pool if you need to exercise, it just aint worth it (time and money wise)...i had my ACL done last year and it is sweet now, just follow the rules!

ehh i dont know about this.. for my first surgery all that I did was the bike and swimming, and ended up with about 30-45 degrees less motion in my right knee, and still to this day i barely have any flexibility in it. On my second surgery I ran once it stopped hurting to run during the healing process, and I got full range of motion and it seemed to heal much faster. Definately dont run on a treadmill, but after a couple of months if its feelin better then go to a local track at a high school (look for a rubber track, its easier on the knees) and do some long distance running, keeping your feet low off the ground like a mile runner.. Believe me i lost .2 seconds off my 40 for my first one and none after my second and the only difference was running... Sorry for the book

you might wanna run on grass or sand, the impact from running is kinda hard on your knees if they're in the process of recovering from an injury. I have fluid in my knees and running on pavement kills them if I run longer than 30 mins

rehad rehad rehad.... spend round an hour a day in the gym on the bike treadmill and doing every leg machine i can find high reps low resistance.

Dude, I skied at 2.5. it was a horrrrrrible idea. It was all easy groomers though. I can't believe you skied pow! that's insane. I would have been to afraid to do that.

summers been a bitch...but my scar tissue is working out nicely. I have almost full range of motion in the knee and still have a numb spot just left of the scar on the upper shin. But i have three more months of PT left and December i should be back on the snow.

BALANCE STUFF!

doing exercices on a balance board and and other balance things, will activate all muscles and they learn to how towork togther again --> stabilisation!

thanks for all the info guys! I'm right at 6 months right now and just wanted to know if i was on the right track and doing all that i can be doing

man.. knees suck ass. it's been almost a year since my last surgery and I still don't feel as confident in it as i used to.... starting to wonder if it'll ever get all the way back..
