Alex Hackel was robbed

Definitely surprised BMile podiumed much less got second....

Oh ya and no disrespect to BMile it’s just all the parts were crazy tech and super style where he only had the style

I think hackel scored low the same reason mango scored low last year. Watch Bmile's part then watch bdog's part from last year. Watch hackel's part from this year and mango's from last. I think the judges put magnitude ahead of the swerve each time.

I actually thought the judging was fairly consistent between last year and this year. Both Bdog’s 2019 edit and Mango’s 2020 edit featured creativity, technical tricks, and massive features. The editing and filming was also good. So, they won.

Mango’s 2019 edit and Hackel’s 2020 edit lacked extra large features, so those edits didn’t win.

Above all though, Hackel and Mango are two of my favorite skiers right now and both are super good guys, so I’m mostly just glad their skiing is getting the recognition it deserves.

Mango definitely deserved the win and sure Hackel got robbed, but Emile went for such insanely big spots it's not super surprising, was an absolutely insane edit. At least nobody got robbed of podium like mango did last year

Also the judges were all mediocre to halfway decent rail skiers. A few probably better than me. So I guess I'll trust their decision. And Hackle still got fan favorite.

lol. Mageau absolutely did not get robbed last year. Casabon was hitting the most massive features imaginable while, by comparison, Mageau was in the beginner park. It's street skiing. Feature selection and gnarliness needs to be taken into account, and it's the same reason Bergeron placed above Hackle this year.

Thats a great point, this thread was firing me up to be mad but that gave me a nice little breather

No way emiles part was better than hackels but what does a 16 year old know

Apparently not much. Sorry kids. Failing your arms like a jackass and buttering the softest skis on the market doesn't make up for hitting only small features and doing stupid low consequence shit like a switch carve under a rail to a 4ft drop.

He should be thankful he was on the podium at all.

Petition to make Skierman orange name is he posts a vid of him sw carving under a rail that low. No drop necessary

I felt the same way about BMile's at first, but go through his edit shot for shot and actually think about how technical and gnar every shot is. I think the gnar factor kind of gets lost in his because the style and the editing is so smooth.

Hackel's skiing and edit is more interesting and beautiful imo, but in terms of level of difficulty it's similar and Emile's has the edge for big, high consequence features. The switch three roof tranny ender is terrifying.

Also Hack got Bronze and people's choice. No robbery whatsoever. Also just to reiterate, there's a legit case for everyone in the field to podium.

Its hard to argue with a professional panel of judges but at least this year they got first place correct. Hackel definitely was an easy second. I personally though Sam had the most underrated edit of them all. His switch ups are nutty specially in an urban environment. Emile's was definitely not a second in my eyes but when your not as good you don't see eye to eye the way pros do.

He even built a berm to do the carve. So much for edge control. Give me a break.

I’d say Tom Wallisch is a bit better than halfway decent

That's the joke. It's not just wallisch either. The judges were some straight rail killers.

Is this what the internet has come to?

Holy jesus, how dumb are actually? I'm a little sad y'all didn't get it, but it was fairly obvious. Any more obvious and it wouldn't have been a joke. I assumed after you missed it the next people would figure it out so I just left it. I guess I was wrong :(

Everybody that says Emile doesn’t deserve the 2nd place doesn’t understand what it takes to make these spots happen. Emile gave the most effort.

Yeah that's fair he didn't get gold, but at the least I thought he deserved a place on the podium, even a bronze would've been good but he got nothing. The trick selection alone was insane and innovative plus the spots definitely weren't small either, this year I'm glad he stepped it up though.

Dude you´re a fucking cunt

believe it or not there are rules to Realski and one of those rules is a 90 second part and if you look closely hackle went over that, the judges had no choice but to deduct points for that,.

Before I watched the full broadcast, I had

1. Mango

2. Hackel

3. BMile

After the broadcast, I was actually persuaded by the judges, and by my own eyeballs on the rewatch.

I think Hackel produced an amazing edit. Really entertaining and unique. There’s 3 tricks (for me) that I’ll always associate with him and urban hammers in general.

Besides that, I agree there were some similar tricks, and the feature size and consequence outside of the best shots just wasn’t on the level of Mango and BMile.

Hackel did better tricks than BMile, but then again, so did Jesper. That to me demonstrates that it’s not all about the tricks themselves in a vacuum.

Emile did some shit that looked straight up fucking dangerous, and that’s part of the biggest judging criteria— overall impression. From the first clip, it’s just like “holy shit...he’s insane”. And as the judges are former competitors, it doesn’t shock me that they had him in 2nd.

I also wonder if the vibes/similarities between Jake and Hackel’s edits ultimately hurt Hackel. Not because he was “copying” but just from a preference standpoint/human nature.

I know a lot of people liked Hackel’s edit best, and I respect that, but for me I was backing Mango from the first watch.

The real crime is the amount of people spelling his name "Hackle" in this thread.

Put som respek on the man name.

Fuck. Im dyslexic but that's no excuse. That part was good enough to at least spell his name right. My apologies

I haven’t crunched the numbers on this yet guys, but I’m guessing 3rd place + people’s choice = more $$$$$ than just getting second place. Shouts out to democracy for balancing the scales.

That said I thought everyone KILLED it this year holy fuck. Hackel was insane.

I thought going into it mango was gunna be my favourite but I voted for sam, loved the style.

Can't wait for next years.
