Alcohol in checked baggage underage

Ight so im flying out to colerado on the 25th with two friends and my dad and im staying there 2 weeks. Im trying to bring a bottle in my checked luggage.

Im 16 and both of my friends are underage aswell.

So pretty much what im asking is do the flight people who check your luggage give a fuck about underage drinking? Cause I know if your old enough your allowed to bring whatever alcohol in your checked bags.

Also my dads with me so i dont want them to take the bottle and start asking my dad questions cause he obviously doesnt know im bringing it.

Im willing to take the risk of them just taking the bottle and not doing anything if thats what they do.

This is going in my CHECKED baggage im not going through security with it or putting it in my carry on.

+K

they search bags. they left me an official note that they had searched my bag which had my skis, and that my skis might be broken now because of the search.

It shouldn't be a problem. The people searching don't know how old you are as mentioned before and even if they did are unlikely to care. Also since you're traveling with a parent you could just be the one with luggage space. That said don't deny having alcohol if they ask you (I doubt this will happen for a domestic flight).

Coming through customs after a class trip to France, every single kid declared the alcohol we were bringing home. One kid even exceeded the legal amount for the length of time we had been gone. Not a single one of us got the booze taken from us or a second glance for being obviously underage.

I don't know how tight they are about it in the US but I just got back to canada from dominican and a lot of my friends and I had a shit ton of cigars and liquor.

we didn't even have to claim it, there is a certain obscene amount maximum that you have to reach before you have to claim/pay for it like 100 cigars or 200oz of alcohol or something.

since you're flying domestically anyways I don't think they'll give a shit. usually they won't question you anyways, they'll just take it out and you'll notice it's missing when you get home.

you should be fine. my bags have rarely been checked. having said that though,i recommend wrapping it in some plastic bags just in case it happens to open so booze doesnt get all over your stuff. i forgot to do that and a bottle of wine ruined a lot of my stuff

How are the bag checkers going to know that this random bag in the pile of 500 bags belongs to someone underage. The checked bag searches are for bombs and shit. It will be fine

maybe his dad will be with him when they arrive but not at the duty free before they leaveidunnolol this whole idea seems stupid. do you not have friends with fakes back home?

its not like my dad bought 4 tickets that have his name on them....I mean I dont know if they have all my information and shit matched up with the bag when they check it and shit

i've had this happen, too. I've heard that if you happen to ski over any residue from avalanche control bombing, then the bomb sniffers at the airport are likely to pick up on it. Don't know whether that's true or not, but I had been skiing over avi control several days in a row prior to my bag getting searched.

then I'm confused as to why you need to bring liquor back in your bag.

oh wait are you trying to bring alcohol ON your trip? cause if you're trying to bring it home I see no point.

if you need alcohol in colorado there are probably dozens of nser's who will hook you up

Yeah i was going to say, just put it in his bag if you are that worried about it, or tell him to cover for you just in case they try to call you out

You will be 100% fine. I've done this many times, with liquor and beer.

Put the bottle in a plastic bag just in case of leakage (it sucks when your shit smells like alcohol). And make sure it's well padded - wrap it inside some pants or something. But I've never had any problems with doing that before.

Good luck.

When the fuck are you going to find time to get drunk if you're hanging out with your dad on vacation? More importantly...why, at 16, do you feel the need to sneak booze on a trip with your dad? What are you going to do? Wait until he falls asleep and sneak shots with your butt buddy for 20 minutes until you both pass out?

#YOLO.

Youre being paranoid. They will basically think its your dads if they find it in a search, so they wont do anything. You worry too much man

cigars are the easiest things to bring back. done this a million times. all you have to do is slide the little label/wrapper thing off of them and come home. package them however you want so they don't break. without the label, no one is going to hassle you. reapply the label/wrapper (whateve the fuck it's called) when you get home.

I brought a bottle of wine and a bottle of champagne back from Italy with me (17 years old), and at customs in Michigan, they asked what foods I had in my bag. I told him wine and champagne, and he told me to be safe and responsible. I'm sure you'll be fine.... I think the worst they could do is throw it out.

NO

from personal experience:

I lived in colorado until i was 19. The week in question was spring break, 2004. I was 18 then, having fun, not really worried about anything. I was coming back from san diego, a great week with my bros and lots of girls. I forgot to take a half full bottle of whisky out of my bag, the checked bag, not even the bag i brought on the plane. I was sitting in the waiting area at san diego airport, reading a magazine, minding my own business, when I heard the desk calling my name over the intercom. I went to the desk and two TSA guards put handcuffs on me, and lead me to a room in the lower level of the airport. It was just like the movies, I was in a room at a table and three TSA officers in suits were asking me all sorts of questions. Apparently they thought I was lying about my age, and that I was a radical Muslim trying to infiltrate the united states through norad. The problem was I am of middle eastern descent. I was sent to prision, and tried for underage posession of alcohol and treason against the united states of america. Thank god they released me to house arrest in november.

dont bring the liquor op/thread

whatever. I also had a big water bottle full of mamajuana. when they ask you questions about what you brought home as gifts I didn't mention the giant oil painting rolled up in my hand cause I had been carrying it all day and forgot I had it. she didn't say a word about it lol, pearson security isn't too hot at 3am.

Really you think that air line will check your name and age and for evey person that checks a bottle that comes through.
