Going to AK this summer for a week. I was looking into spending a day fishing. have any of you been? should I go ocean or river fishing?

Any recommendations

What week are you going to be in alaska. The end of june is the start of the king salmon run and that goes until end of july mid august, sockeyes will be running then too. Both are awesome to fish. There are great rivers off bristol for it. I fish the togiak almost every summer. Also going for halibut is awesome as fuck too. but that'll be done in the bay. You can't go wrong with deep sea or river however I prefer river handily over deep sea.

Both man! I went Halibut fishing out of Seward (didn't catch shit) and then salmon fishing in the funny river (its actually called the funny river) just outside of Sterling on the Kenai. Make sure to check out when the Salmon are running though, we started fishing at the tail end of a run and we weren't able to get much.

Have fun, Alaska is an amazing place.

river! go to the kenai and the russian river for some good fishing. beware of bears though, the show bitten on animal planet had a person that got their face bit off by a grizzly at the russion (russian and the kenai connect at the mouth, start at the russian and work your way down to the mouth if you cant catch anything) but that only happened once.
